Sun Belt Conference Championship
Location: Arlington, Texas
Monroe, La. – The ULM men's and women's track & field teams head to Arlington, Texas this wekend for the three-day Sun Belt Conference Championship meet.
NOTABLES
-The Warhawks will open the 2017 Championships on Friday morning with Austin Walker competing in the decathlon to be held on Friday and Saturday. Then the Warhawks will move onto the hammer throw beginning at 10:00 a.m. for the women and 12:30 for the men. On the women's side, Dominique Allen, Alexis Gordon and Alyssa Smith will all compete. while Micah Dye will compete on the men's side. Beginning at 3:00 p.m. the javelin will be contested as Lonnie Wiley and Mi'Ca Lowe will be the ULM competitors.
-Friday will be rounded out for the Warhawks with the 10,000 meter race beginning at 8:30 p.m. with the Warhawks having Edith Jebet, Jonathan Jeffcoat, Elias Keter and Kipkirui Victor.
-On Saturday, the Warhawks will begin with the women's long jump slated for 12:30 p.m. The team will have Adriunna Brown, Micaiah Dendy and Payton Simpson compete in the long jump event. The shot put will follow at 3:00 p.m. as Alexis Gordon, Dominique Allen, Alyssa Smith will all be competing for the Warhawks. Also the men's long jump will be held on Saturday as Jemal Parharm and Dahndre Washington will be competing. The men's shot put will round out Saturday's field events as Micah Dye, Jevaughn Shaw and Kyle Weiss will all be competing.
-On Saturday the preliminaries for the following events will begin at 5:00 p.m. and run in 15 minute increments: Women's 100-Meter Hurdles, men's 110 meter hurdles, women's 400 meter dash, men's 400 meter dash, women's 100 meter dash, men's 100 meter dash, women's 800 meter run, men's 800 meter run, women's 400 meter hurdles, men's 400 meter hurdles, and the women's 200 meter. Anyone who qualifies will advance to the finals to be held on Sunday.
-Micah Dye and Kyle Weiss will compete Sunday morning in the men's discus followed up by the women's discus with Dominique Allen. The triple jump will follow with Adriunna Brown, Micaiah Dendy, Lebrun Nelson, Jemal Parharm and Dahndre Washington. In the high jump the Warhawks will have Lebrun Nelson and Austin Walker.
-Both men's and women's will have representation in the 4x100 and 4x400 races. Jansen Nowell, Brandon McDonald and Angela Jepchirchir will all run in the 1500 meter race before the finals will be held from Saturday's preliminaries. The final race will be the 5000 meter event, where Jacob Holland, Jonathan Jeffcoat, Elias Keter, Kipkirui Victor and Edith Jebet.
