Guillaume Fanonnel carded the best opening round of any ULM men's golfer, finishing at even par 72, as the Warhawks sit in 13th place on Sunday, Oct. 14, with an 8-over-par 297 at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate. Fanonnel is locked in an eight-way tie for 22nd entering Monday's second round of play at the Quail Valley Golf Club.

Fanonnel is five shots off the pace established by South Florida's Ryoto Furuya, who fired a 5-under-par score of 67 in the first round. He owns a one-shot edge over the collection of Albin Bergstrom (South Florida), Blake Elliott (McNeese State), Brad Bawden (Memphis) and Julien Sale (Arkansas State).

Arkansas State, with five players inside the Top 20, owns the top spot on the team leaderboard with a 9-under-par 279. The Red Wolves are followed closely by North Florida (8-under 280) and South Florida (five under 283), while host McNeese State sits in sixth.

The Warhawk tandem of
Otto Van Buynder and
Joao Girao are locked in a nine-way tie for 40th with a 2-over-par score of 74. Teammate
Thibault Santigny, who finished with a 5-over-par 77, will enter the second round of action in a five-way tie for 64th. Meanwhile,
Jeff Berry, rounds out the ULM card with a 6-over-par score of 78, placing him in a five-way deadlock for 69th.
