ULM's Jahaanvie Walia finished with scores of 70 and 76 and placed herself in third after Monday's opening rounds at the Fred Marx Invitational, held at the Bayou DeSiard Country Club. Walia, who carded a 2-over-par score 146, played a key role in placing the Warhawks in fifth on the team leaderboard with a score of 35-over-par 610.
 
Walia wrapped up the first round with a 2-under-par 70 after notching 12 pars and four birdies along the way. Three of those birdies came on the back nine, including the 10th, 12th and 14th holes. She followed with nine pars and four birdies en route to a second-round 4-over 76. Walia closed out her day with three-straight birdies on 16, 17 and 18.
 
Shani White shot a 7-over-par 151, good for a tie for 17th with Austin Peay State's Reagan Greene. White finished the opening round at even par 72, thanks to 10 pars and four birdies. She managed 10 pars and two birdies (eighth and 17th holes) in the second round while posting a 7-over 79.
 
Sharmaine Rapisura capped off the day with ULM's third-best score, finishing with a 13-over-par 157. Her first round included nine pars and one birdie, which came at the 16th hole, resulting in a 79. Rapisura, who shaved one stroke off her scorecard in the second with nine pars and three birdies, sits in a four-way tie for 28th.
 
The tandem of Olivia Landberg and Scarlett Eaton, who complete the ULM scorecard, are locked in a tie for 32nd at 14-over 158. Landberg finished with rounds of 80 and 78, while Eaton tallied scores of 81 and 77.
 
Landberg finished off the first round with nine pars and three birdies before emerging with 10 pars and one birdie in the second. Eaton managed nine pars in the opening round and added 11 pars and two birdies on the third and 15th holes in the second round.
 
ULM also was represented by Eva Bjornsdottir and Angela Tocco, who competed as individuals. Bjornsdottir is in a three-way deadlock for 37th with a 17-over-par 161 and Tocco is in 41st with a 19-over 163.
 
Bjornsdottir concluded the opening round with seven pars and three birdies, two of which came on the front nine. Her second round ended with eight pars. Tocco posted similar scores in her first round, closing with 11 pars en route to an 80, before finishing the second round with 10 pars and a lone birdie at the seventh hole.
 
The Fred Marx Invitational concludes on Tuesday at the Bayou DeSiard Country Club, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
