VERO BEACH, Fla. – ULM junior golfer Guillaume Fanonnel emerged with a third-round 2-under-par 70 as he notched his first Top 20 performance of the 2018-19 season on Tuesday, Oct. 16, finishing in a five-way tie for 12th at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate, hosted by McNeese State.

Fanonnel, who climbed two spots on the leaderboard on Tuesday, ended the 54-hole event at 4-under-par 212 following rounds of 72, 70 and 70. The Lyon, France, native tallied 15 pars, one birdie and one eagle in the final round to post the best third-round score of any Warhawk. His 39 pars for the tournament ranked third in the 80-player field.

Collectively, ULM placed ninth as a team with a combined score of 3-over-par 867 (297-279-291). The Warhawks missed a top-five finish by just five strokes. North Florida won the team championship with a 30-under-par 834 (280-279-275). The Ospreys were one stroke better than South Florida (29-under 835) and four shots in front of Arkansas State (26-under 838). Â

Freshman Otto Van Buynder also put together a solid performance on the Quail Valley Golf Club course, finishing in a three-way deadlock for 34th after a third-round 71. Van Buynder, who carded a 1-over-par 217 for the event, converted nine pars and a team-best five birdies in the final round of play. He came through with two birdies on the front nine, but emerged with three on the back nine at the 10th, 12th and 17th holes.

Joao Girao capped off the final day with a score of 3-over-par 75, finishing 2-over 218 for the tournament in a three-way tie for 37th. The Warhawk junior recorded seven pars, three birdies and an eagle on No. 18 over the course of the day.

Jeff Berry finished with the fourth-best score (223) of the tournament for ULM after rounds of 78, 70 and 75. The red-shirt junior was one of eight players tied for 52nd, finishing 7-over-par for the event. Berry's third-round scorecard included 13 pars and one birdie, which came on the 15th hole.

Junior Thibault Santigny completed 54 holes at 8-over-par 224. Santigny began the day with three pars and an eagle in his first four holes, adding a birdie on the seventh to highlight the front nine. He added four pars and a birdie at 14 on the back nine, resulting in a 5-over-par 77 in the final round.

North Florida's Travis Trace, who fired a final-round 66 and finished 13-under-par 203 for the tournament, took home the individual crown. Trace was responsible for 12 pars and six birdies in the third round, leapfrogging McNeese State's Blake Elliott, who finished at 10-under-par 206.

The Warhawks return to action on Oct. 22-23 when they head to Little Rock, Arkansas, to compete in the First Tee Intercollegiate, hosted by Arkansas State.
