Walia Selected Sun Belt Women’s Golfer of the Week

MONROE, La. – ULM sophomore Jahaanvie Walia, who led from start to finish in winning the individual title at the F&M Bank Austin Peay State Intercollegiate Oct. 1-2 in Clarksville, Tenn., has been selected Sun Belt Women's Golfer of the Week. Walia carded a 1-over-par 217 (71-72-74) and defeated Murray State's Linette Holmslykke by one stroke (72-75-71 – 218).

The Lusaka, Zambia, native became ULM's first individual champion since Alison Knowles won four tournament titles in 2013-14. Walia, who recorded 35 pars over 54 holes, recorded a field-best nine birdies. She also set the pace for the Warhawks, who placed second in the 11-team field at 41-over-par 905 (300-299-306).

It marked Walia's third career individual title, as she won two tournament championships as a freshman at Alcorn State.
