Otto Van Buynder wrapped up the David Toms Intercollegiate, held at The University Club, with a 3-over-par 219 and tied Mercer's Tyler Copp for 10th on Sunday, Oct. 7. It marked the first Top 10 performance in the career of the South African native.

Joao Girao, who finished tied for 18th, highlighted a Warhawk unit that placed sixth in the 14-team field with a three-round total of 28-over-par 892 (283-295-302).

Van Buynder, who completed the first six holes of the second round on Saturday as darkness encroached, finished the round with 11 pars and four birdies en route to a score of 71. His best stretch of the round came between the third and sixth holes, where he tallied three birdies. Van Buynder went on to finish the third round with 10 pars and two birdies, which came on the front nine, to finish the tournament with scores of 70, 71 and 78.

Tournament host LSU took home top honors as a team, posting an 8-under-par 843 (282-281-280) to earn a 16-stroke win over second-place Louisiana Lafayette in the process. The Tigers owned the top-five places on the individual leaderboard, including champion Trey Winstead, who fired a 7-under-par 209 (68-70-71).

Girao climbed five spots on the leaderboard between the second and third rounds to finish in a six-way tie for 18th with a 6-over-par score of 222. After five pars and a birdie in his first six holes on Saturday, Girao would go onto end the second round with 15 pars and birdies on the sixth and ninth holes. The result was a score of 71, which tied Van Buynder for the lowest round by any Warhawk.

Girao followed with a third-round score of 73, by virtue of nine pars and four birdies, including two each on the front and back nine.

Max Catherine marked the third Top 30 finisher for ULM on Sunday, finishing in a four-way tie for 27th as he capitalized on a third-round 73 to finish 9-over par at 225. Catherine closed the second round with 13 pars before opening the third with two birdies in his first three holes. He would enjoy a stretch of seven-straight pars before birdies at the 12th and 16th holes highlighted his back nine scorecard.

Andoni Etchenique wrapped up the event locked in a five-way tie for 31st with a 10-over-par 226. Etchenique tallied 11 pars and two birdies in the second round, posting a 76 in the process. His third round began with four pars and a birdie in his first seven holes, but he added six pars and a birdie in the final 11 to finish with a 78.

The ULM scorecard was rounded out by
Keegan McLachlan, who finished 70th with a three-day total of 25-over 241 (81-80-80). McLachlan's second round ended with seven pars and two birdies before a third round that included nine pars and two birdies on the eighth and 17th greens.

ULM will now turn its attention to the Quail Valley Intercollegiate, hosted by McNeese State in Vero Beach, Florida, on Oct. 14-16.
