Bobby Lane Invitational - Day 1 Results
ARLINGTON, Texas – The ULM track and field team got its weekend off to a solid start as it opened the Bobby Lane Invitational, hosted by UT Arlington, with a pair of first-place finishes in the hammer throw Friday (March 23).
Â
Dominique Allen brought home top honors for the Warhawk women's team with a personal-record heave of 167-10 (51.17 meters), which came on her sixth attempt of the event. That was five inches longer than Hailey Wanoreck (Texas A&M-Commerce) made in her second toss of the day, placing a close second.
Â
The podium also included Tricia Williams (UT-Arlington), who wrapped up the event with heave of 165-7, placing in third. Hayden Holloway also put together a solid performance for ULM, finishing 10th with a toss of 133-9.
Â
Alton Clay replicated the feat of Allen on the men's side, finishing in first following a chuck of 207-6 (63.26m), marking the only men's competitor to top 200-feet on the afternoon. Clay began the day with a heave of 195-2 and after a pair of fouls recorded a toss of 192-7.
Â
Clay's fifth heave of the day traveled a distance of 199-3, but it was his sixth attempt that proved to decide the event at 207-6.
Â
Bryan Burns and Junior Joseph, both of Missouri Southern, earned second and third place, respectively. Burns edged his teammate by four feet with a heave of 188-11, which came on his fifth attempt. Joseph's best toss came on his second attempt, which traveled 184 feet.

The event continues Saturday, March 24 on the UT Arlington campus at Maverick Stadium.
