Andrei and Snita Garner All-Sun Belt Conference Awards

Tennis
NEW ORLEANS, La.  – ULM's Stefana Andrei and Karolina Snita both garnered Sun Belt All-Conference awards, announced by the conference office on Wednesday (April 18). All-conference awards are voted on by the league's 11 women's tennis head coaches.

In singles play, Stefana Andrei earned first-team All-Sun Belt honors while teammate Karolina Snita earned second-team honors. Andrei and Snita also earned All-Sun Belt Second Team honor for their success in the number one doubles position.

Andrei, a Bucharest, Romania native has been an unstoppable force on the courts for the Warhawks. In singles competition, she is 15-3 dating back to the premier of the fall season. Andrei has managed an undefeated mark this spring in both overall and conference play.

Andrei was the only athlete to have represented the Sun Belt in the Main Draw of the 2017 ITA Women's All-American Championships in the fall, and as the former Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year, she is entering the Sun Belt tournament riding on a nine-match win streak.

Snita has been a dominant player for ULM in the two and three position over the past two years. This spring, Snita is 11-1 in singles play, taking her wins in straight sets every time. She swept her opponent from Jackson State (6-0, 6-0), and posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Troy's Jiayuan Xue. This season, Snita is undefeated against other Sun Belt players in both singles and doubles play in finished matches.

In doubles play, Andrei and Snita have been the front runner for the Warhawks; competing in the one and two position, the duo has defeated all but three opponents in finished matches, two losses were from ranked duos from #20 Auburn and #10 Florida. Andrei and Snita swept Jones and Lewis from Sun Belt foe, Texas State- as well as defeating four other Sun Belt pairs in finished matches.

Andrei, Snita, and the rest of the sixth seeded Warhawk squad will kick-off the 2018 Sun Belt Tournament on Thursday (April 18) at 11:30 when they face seed number 11, Arkansas State.
