Beach Volleyball Travels to New Orleans for Mid-Week Match

Beach Volleyball
MONROE, La. – After a much needed week of preparation and rest, the ULM beach volleyball team is headed to New Orleans for a mid-week match-up against Tulane on Wednesday (Apr.4) at Tulane's White Sands Volleyball Courts. First match is slated for 11 a.m.

The Warhawks and Green Wave have already met once before this season, while both teams were participating in UAB's Blazer Beach Duals. At the time, Tulane was ranked number 17, but has since then fallen out of the ranks after four straight losses to other ranked teams.

ULM (7-8) dropped games on courts four and five against Tulane before the teams would break for a lightning delay. The weather delay must have been just enough time for ULM to regroup, because pairs Catherine Griffith and Becca Brown, and Maile Sellers and Kayla Gallant both took down their Green Wave counter parts on courts two and three. Tulane would ultimately end up with the win after defeating the Warhawks on court one.

Tulane (12-10) is hosting ULM after a two-day trip to Miami, Florida where it participated in the CCSA's Surf N Turf invitational. The Green Wave walked away with big wins against #18 FAU and #12 FIU.

Tulane's Madeline Mertz and Kaylie McHugh clinched the win against FAU on court one, while pairs Lauren Orlich and Anna Chin claimed the third point and victory for the Green Wave on court two against FIU.

The Warhawks are looking to add two more to the win column after a tough 2-2 showing at Georgia State's Diggin Duals (Mar.23-24). ULM posted two wins against Jacksonville State and Mercer to open up competition, but fell to North Florida and No.9 GSU on day two.

Junior Bailey Smith and freshman Taylor Meyer were the first to defeat a pair from Georgia State when they beat out Kate Novack and Bekah Brodbeck  (21-19, 29-27).

Number three duo Rebecca Brown and Catherine Griffith also earned a team point, taking down sisters Teegan and Annika Van Gunst of Georgia State (21-16, 21-13).
