MONROE, La. – The ULM women's tennis team is on the road again, this time, headed to San Marcos, Texas for a Friday match against Sun Belt opponent Texas State (Apr.6).
The Warhawks will be looking for a big win after a tough 4-0 loss at Tulane just last week (Mar.30). After dropping the doubles-point to the Green Wave, ULM was unable to catch-up in singles competition as
Teodora Radu,
Bianca Koen, and
Madalina Grigoriu were the first to fall. Tulane was coming off of three-straight losses, but has since then won three in-a-row compiling an 11-10 record.
Since Texas State left the Southland Conference in 2012, ULM is 3-3 against the Bobcats, most recently taking down Texas State 4-0 in New Orleans during the 2017 Sun Belt Tournament. The Warhawks also beat the Bobcats 4-0 in Jonesboro earlier that season.
Texas State (4-11, 1-1) is led by Rishona Israel-Lewis, who has earned eight wins over a 20 game span. In doubles-play, Bobcats Ana Perez and J Navajo-Melendez have had the most success so far this season, coming in with a 10-7 overall record as a pair.
Senior
Stefana Andrei is still leading ULM (7-7, 2-2) with an undefeated mark in singles play this spring. Andrei most recently defeated Kelly Drew from ULL and Augustina Serio from UT-Arlington.
