SAN MARCOS, Texas – It's nothing unexpected from the ULM women's tennis team as they roll through two more opponents, both in Sun Belt conference play. This weekend, the Warhawks traveled to San Marcos and defeated Texas State (4-1) and Arkansas State (4-0), putting them at an impressive 10-6 overall with only one match remaining before the Sun Belt tournament.
The Hawks started out on Friday (Apr.6) against Texas State, with dous
Stefana Andrei and Karolina
Snita, and
Karolina Silwanowicz defeating Bobcat pairs Alex Jones and Rishona Lewis (6-0).
In the number three spot,
Bianca Koen and
Madalina Grigoriu muscled out a 6-2 win over Texas State's Joy Chia and Sofia Murcia, clinching the doubles-point.
The Warhawks continued to dominate the courts well into singles play; Silwanowicz earned the first win for ULM, defeating Alex jones from Texas State in straight sets (6-0, 6-2).
With a 2-0 lead,
Stefana Andrei stepped up and took down Ana Perez in 6-0, 6-1 fashion. Andrei continues her senior season undefeated.
The Warhawks would drop one game on court five, but with the help of Snita, ULM clinched the fourth point and the win as Snita beat out Rishona Lewis (6-1, 6-4).
ULM wasted no time is securing another win against an opposing Sun Belt team, shutting out Arkansas State on Saturday (Apr.7), 4-0.
Doubles Andrei and Snita, and Koen and Grigoriu once again came in clutch for the Warhawks, earning the doubles-point for ULM with 6-3 and 7-5 wins over the Red Wolves, respectively.
Andrei and Snita worked together to defeat Anita Detlava and Berta Masdevall Masip, while Koen and Grigoriu defeated Sabina Jeresic and Kirsty Venter of Arkansas State.
In singles play, Grigoriu would see Venter for the second time, taking her down once again 6-4, 6-1. Silwanowicz followed suit with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Red Wolf Berta Masdevall Masip.
Snita finished the weekend undefeated (4-0) with another singles win; Snita defeated Anita Detlava in 6-3, 6-2 fashion.
The Warhawks have one more match before the Sun Belt Conference tournament. ULM will travel to SMU next weekend and face the Mustangs on Saturday (Apr.14).
