Four of ULM's Track and Field Athletes Named to the 2018 All-Louisiana Team

Track & Field
MONROE, La. – The ULM track and field program notched five spots on the 2018 LSWA All-Louisiana Track Team, recently announced by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA).

ULM's Micaiah Dendy (triple jump), Elias Keter (5000 meters), Alton Clay (discus and hammer) and Cole McKnight (javelin) posted one the best times in the state in their respective events.

Dendy, a Middletown, Delaware native marked the second-best triple jump distance in the state with a 12.41-meter jump at the McNeese State Cowboy Relays in March. Dendy returns for her junior year with her sights set on breaking her personal-best distance of 12.44 meters, a PR set when she ranked first at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships in February.

Keter's time of 14:58:11 in the 5000 meters ranked him third among other Louisiana athletes. Keter clocked his season best with a third-place finish at the Sun Belt Outdoor Track and Field Championships in May. Keter's performance was a 36-second improvement in the same event at the LSU Alumni Gold just the month before.

Clay, one of ULM's most awarded track and field athletes, finished with two rankings, in both the discus and hammer throw. Clay enjoyed a personal-record heave of 217-feet, 5-inches (66.27 meters) in the hammer throw, just short of qualifying for the NCAA Championships. His PR ranked him second in the state in the event.

In May, Clay earned a fourth-place finish at the Sun Belt Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a discus throw of 174-3, a distance ranking him second in Louisiana.

McKnight, a Louisiana native himself, made the All-Louisiana Track team with a second-ranked javelin distance of 223-11. It was at the Sun Belt Outdoor Track and Field Championships that McKnight achieved the distance, which also was a personal record for the sophomore.
