Keegan McLachlan wrapped up the opening round of the Lone Star Invitational in a six-way tie for 10th after firing a 1-over 73 Monday, Sept. 10 at the par-72, 7,435-yard TPC Oaks Course. McLachlan, one of four Warhawks in the Top 25, helped ULM combine for a 10-over-par 298 and sits nine shots off the pace established by host UTSA, which closed with a 1-over-par 289 in the opening day of action.
Â
McLachlan, who began his day at the 11th hole, enjoyed six pars and two bogeys in his first seven holes. After making the turn at one he managed nine consecutive pars, remaining at 2-over-par, before wrapping up his final hole with birdie at 10 to finish one over.
Â
UTSA's Sean Meehan tops the individual leaderboard with a 4-under-par score of 68. His opening round included 10 pars, six birdies and two bogeys, which resulted in the lone score in the 60s (68). Meanwhile, Arkansas State's Zan Luka Stirn (2-under 70) and Joel Wendin (1-under 71) along with UL Lafayette's Charlie Flynn (1-under 71) round out the top four performers.

The ULM trio of
Joao Girao, Jeffrey Berry and
Otto Van Buynder are locked in a nine-way tie for 22nd after shooting 3-over-par scores of 75. Girao began the round on the 10th green, emerging with three pars and two birdies to close with a 2-over-par. He moved to even par at the turn with back-to-back birdies at the second and third holes but was unable to maintain the momentum as he endured three bogeys over the final six holes.
Â
Berry's scorecard was similar to Girao, posting two birdies and two bogeys in his first six holes of the day. His score of even par remained through the first three holes of the back nine, but three bogeys in the next eight holes left him at 3-over-par.
Â
Van Buynder also began his first round at the 10th green, emerging with six pars to result in a 3-over-par. He rebounded with a solid back nine that resulted in one birdie, one bogey and seven pars for an even score of 36.
Â
Gilbert, who is one of 11 players tied for 31st in the event, closed out the day with a 4-over-par score of 76. He began at the 13th green, opening the day with a birdie, before carding a birdie at 17 as he headed to the front nine with a score of even.
Â
Gilbert rolled off four-straight pars before three bogeys over the next four holes upped his score to 3-over-par. He briefly regained his rhythm with a birdie at 10, but consecutive bogeys on the final two holes of the round moved him to 4-over-par 76.
Â
Play was suspended for approximately four hours Monday morning due to heavy rain. As a result of the soggy playing conditions, officials shortened the opening day to 18 holes and the tournament to 36 holes. The Lone Star Invitational will conclude Tuesday, with a shotgun start scheduled for 8 a.m.
