BATON ROUGE, La. – The ULM doubles tandem of
Karolina Snita and Maria Alfaro advanced to Saturday's second round Doubles Main Draw at the ITA Regional Championships, taking place at the LSU Tennis Complex.
The duo of Snita and Alfaro posted an 8-5 win over the McNeese State duo of Marija Mastilovic and Carlotta Romito in opening round action. The ULM pair will now play the Ole Miss combination of Anna Vrbenska and Tereza Janatova for a spot in the third round. Vrbenska and Janatova posted an 8-6 win in the first round over Mississippi State's Sara Lizariturry and Meredith Roberts.
Snita, the top seeded ULM player in the Singles Main Draw, suffered a setback in the first round to Alabama's Isabella Harvison by virtue of a walkover. Teammate Jimena Garbino battled to two sets with Janatova, in a clash of No. 20 and 21 seeds, with Janatova prevailing by scores of 6-3, 6-1.
Emma Billion, seeded 31
st at the Singles Main Draw, was unable to overcome Tulane's Daniela LaFuente, who emerged with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Alfaro wrapped up first round play of the Singles Main Draw with a 6-1, 6-4 setback to Yu Chen (Auburn).
