HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – ULM newcomer
Line Petersen, taking part in her third tournament of the fall slate as an individual, is in a six-way tie for third place after the first round of the Little Rock Classic taking place at the Diamante Country Club.
Petersen, who carded a 71 on the afternoon, came through with three birdies and 13 pars in the first round. All three birdies came on the back nine at the 10
th, 11
th and 18
th greens. The Denmark native is two shots off the pace established by Western Kentucky's Mary Joiner, who fired a 3-under-par score of 69.
Joining Petersen among the Top-10 competitors for ULM is
Angela Tocco, who is in a tie for ninth with Abby Cavaiani (Missouri State) at even par. Tocco, who also wrapped up the first round with three birdies and 13 pars, posted her under-par scores at the third, seventh and 11
th holes.
ULM, with all five individuals in the Top-50, is tied with Sun Belt rival UT-Arlington for fourth in the team standings with a 9-over-par score of 297. The Warhawks sit six shots back of Western Kentucky, who leads the way with a 3-over-par tally of 291. California Baptist (293) is second and Bradley (295) is in third after finishing 5-over and 7-over, respectively.
The Warhawk trio of
Jahaanvie Walia,
Sharmaine Rapisura and
Eva Bjornsdottir, created a logjam in 31
st on the individual scoreboard, all with a 3-over-par score of 75. Walia's card included 13 pars and a birdie on the 15
th green.
Rapisura ended her opening round with 15 pars, including eight on the front nine. Bjornsdottir, who was tied for the ULM team-high in birdies (three) with Petersen and Tocco, capped off Sunday's action with nine pars.
Shani White competed the ULM team card with a 4-over-par score of 76 and was one of 14 players tied for 50
th. The Warhawk senior opened with a birdie and five pars on the front nine before coming through with a birdie and five pars on the back nine.
ULM continues the tournament on Monday.
