Rapisura Records Best Career Finish at Little Rock Classic

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – ULM junior Sharmaine Rapisura capped off the best finish of her collegiate career, finishing tied for 17th at the Little Rock Classic, as the three-day, three-round tournament drew to a close at the Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
 
Rapisura's previous best finish was 25th, which came at both the Pinehurst Intercollegiate (March 14-16, 2018) and the Murray State Jan Weaver Invite (April 5-6, 2019). The Alberta, Canada, native finished off the Little Rock Classic at 6-over-par 222 (75-72-75), tying Central Arkansas' Karley Whittington in the standings.
 
Rapisura's final-round scorecard included 12 pars and two birdies, which came on the ninth and 12th greens. She was 14 shots off the pace established by individual champion Valeria Mendizabal, from UTEP, who finished at 8-under-par 208 (71-65-72).
 
With the entire Warhawk team inside the Top-40 finishers, ULM ended in a three-way tie for seventh along with Arkansas State and Missouri State at 30-over-par 894. The Warhawks posted scores of 297, 297 and 300 in succession, marking their third Top-10 finish in as many fall tournaments.
 
Senior Shani White climbed 21 spots on the leaderboard, into a tie for 24th alongside Lamar's Carson Racich, with a final round 73. White ended the tournament with an 8-over-par 224 (76-75-73), giving her three finishes inside the Top-35 in the fall. Her final-round scorecard included 12 pars and three birdies, which was tied for the most in the third round by any ULM golfer.
 
Like Rapisura, Eva Bjornsdottir had her best finish of the fall slate in Hot Springs, closing at 9-over-par 225. Bjornsdottir closed the tournament in an eight-way deadlock for 26th with scores of 75, 74 and 76. She was responsible for 12 pars and one birdie in the third round.
 
ULM's pair of Jahaanvie Walia and Angela Tocco tied for 39th along with eight others. Walia fired an 11-over-par 227 (75-76-76), finishing off the final day with 11 pars and three birdies. Tocco, who also posted an 11-over-par card of 227 (72-76-79), wrapped up the final round with eight pars and two birdies.
 
Line Petersen, competing as an individual, was one of nine individuals with a 16-over-par score of 232 (71-79-82), tied for 62nd. Her scorecard included nine pars in the final round.
 
The Warhawks return to the course on Feb. 11-12, 2020, in Kyle, Texas, when they compete at the Texas State Invitational.
