ATLANTA – The ULM cross country team concluded its 2019 season on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Nash Farm Battlefield Park, with the men's unit finishing ninth and the women's 12th in the Sun Belt Conference Championships.
Vincent Mitei, the top ULM men's finisher on the 8k course, finished the race 30th in a time of 26:07.6. He was just over two minutes off the pace established by Coastal Carolina's Nadeel Wildschutt, who captured the individual title in a time of 23:29.0.
Freshman
Gregor Findlay posted the second-best time (27:20.2) on the Warhawk unit, placing 52nd in the process. Following shortly thereafter was junior
Eric Hawkins, who placed 54th in a time of 27:37.6, as well as
Gabriel Wilcox, who posted a time of 27:41.9, closing in 57th.
The final two competitors to complete the course for the Warhawks were
Allen Mire (29:09.5) and
Adrian Harris (31:41.2), who finished 65th and 67th, respectively. ULM was ninth as a team in the men's race, finishing with 265 points, while Appalachian State captured the title with six runners in the Top-20.
The top finisher for the Warhawk women's team was
Edith Jebet, who completed the 5k event in 44th at a time of 19:11.9. Jebet was two minutes shy of Lotte Meyberg (Georgia State), who captured the individual crown in 17:11.7.
ULM's
Sharon Jerono put together a solid performance, closing 62nd in a time of 20:28.0. Teammate
Angela Jepchirchir quickly followed, finishing 63rd as she recorded a mark of 20:36.1.
Kaye-Loni Bowden wrapped up the course in a time of 22:21.1, finishing 79th in the process. Meanwhile,
Allison Tyler (23:46.7) and
Alexus Robertson (31:04.0) trotted across the finish line 81st and 82nd, respectively. The Warhawk women were 12th in the team standings with 329 points, while Arkansas State came away with the team crown after placing five runners in the Top-20.
