ULM Earns 4-1 Win Over Southeastern Louisiana

MONROE, La. – The ULM women's tennis team collected a 4-1 victory over visiting Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, Feb. 16, picking up its second win in as many matches.

ULM snagged its first win in doubles competition when the duo of Florencia Salerno / Emilia Alfaro held off Himani Mor / Vicky Scholz by a score of 6-2. That was followed by a victory from the Warhawk tandem of Angeles Maria Cueto / Shivani Manjanna, who triumphed 6-4 against the team of Fiory Bierma / Katya Cornejo, giving ULM its first point of the match.

Manjanna collected her second win of the afternoon (6-1, 6-0) with a singles victory over Bierma in a clash at No. 4. Southeastern cut the Warhawk lead in half, 2-1, when Putri Insani emerged by scores of 6-2, 6-2 against Teodora Radu at No. 1.

The Warhawks got back on track as Cuerto completed a 6-1, 6-0 win over Mor at No. 6, moving ULM within one point of the team win. That victory came at No. 5 when Jimena Paula Garbino took down Cornejo by scores of 7-5, 6-2.

The Warhawks will look to extend their winning streak to three straight on Sunday, Feb. 17, when they take on Delta State at 1:30 p.m. at home.
