MONROE, La. – The ULM women's golf team begins its 2019 spring season on Monday, March 11 when it heads to Dade City, Florida, to compete in the Spring Break Shootout, co-hosted by Western Kentucky and Florida Gulf Coast. The two-day tournament will be held at the par-71, 6,056-yard Lake Jovita Golf Club.

ULM posted two Top-5 finishes in four fall tournaments, including a second-place performance in the F&M Bank Austin Peay State Intercollegiate last October.

The Warhawks are one of 15 teams taking part in the Spring Break Shootout. The field includes Arkansas State, Ball State, Jacksonville, Samford, Oakland, Illinois State, Western Kentucky and Florida Gulf Coast.

The ULM lineup consists of Jahaanvie Walia (75.55 scoring average), Scarlett Eaton (78.09), Shani White (74.55), Eva Bjornsdottir and Olivia Landberg (78.55).

"We're looking forward to starting our spring season," ULM Director of Golf Tim Baldwin said. "The ladies are playing well and have their sights on being competitive and improving their stroke averages.

"We want to gain momentum as the season continues and hopefully peak at the conference championships in April."

Walia, with a pair of Top-3 finishes to her credit in the fall, will be taking part in her fifth tournament for ULM. Since placing 79th at the South Alabama Invitational on Sept. 17, 2018, Walia has won the individual title at the F&M Bank Austin Peay State Intercollegiate (Oct. 1-2, 2018), finished third at the Fred Marx Invitational (Oct. 15-16, 2018) and tied for 40th in the Little Rock Golf Classic on Oct. 28-30. She has three rounds of 72 or better in her last eight rounds.

Eaton closed the fall with a pair of Top-40 outings at the F&M Bank Austin Peay State Intercollegiate (Oct. 1-2, 2018), where she tied for 16th, and the Fred Marx Invitational (Oct. 15-16, 2018), where she placed 32nd. She twice posted three-round totals of 232, her best score, at the South Alabama Invitational (Sept. 15-17, 2018) and at the F&M Bank Austin Peay State Intercollegiate.

White has been the Warhawks' most consistent player in the 2018-19 season with four Top-25 outings, including a pair of 10th-place performances at the F&M Bank Austin Peay State Intercollegiate (Oct. 1-2) and Little Rock Golf Classic (Oct. 28-30). She has shot better than a 75 in nine of her 11 rounds this season, including a season-low 72 at the Fred Marx Invitational on Oct. 15.

Bjornsdottir saw action in two events in the fall season, making her best finish (37th) at the Fred Marx Invitational after finishing with a 17-over-par 161 (79-82).
