ULM Women’s Golf Finishes Ninth in Sun Belt Championships

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The ULM women's golf team concluded its season with a ninth-place finish in the Sun Belt Championships, which drew to a close on Wednesday, April 17 at the LPGA International Hills Course.
 
ULM finished ninth as a unit after firing a 55-over-par 919 (310-311-298) over a three-day tournament. The Warhawks were 42 strokes off the pace set by team champion South Alabama, which finished 13-over-par with an 877 (295-290-292).
 
The top individual finisher for ULM was senior Scarlett Eaton, who finished in a four-way tie for 14th, marking her second Top-20 performance of the season and the sixth of her Warhawk career. Eaton closed out the tournament with a 7-over-par score of 223 (71-80-72). Her third round was highlighted by 13 pars and three birdies, which came at the fifth, sixth and 14th holes.
 
The individual winner in the event was Georgia Southern's Ella Ofstedahl, who was 3-under-par for the tournament. Ofstedahl jumped two spots in the final round with a 69, following scores of 73 and 71, to finish with a 213.
 
Sophomore Jahaanvie Walia closed out her first season at ULM with a 30th-place finish after carding a 13-over-par 229 (81-77-71). Walia, who produced the lowest third-round score of any Warhawk (71), was responsible for 15 pars and two birdies on Wednesday. Walia recorded 11-straight pars to open the day after beginning on the 10th hole.
 
"The ladies played much better today, shooting a 10-over 298 with Jahaanvie (Walia) having a 71 and Scarlett (Eaton) firing a 72," ULM Director of Golf Tim Baldwin said. "We had too many big numbers on the week, which hurt our chances. We're definitely disappointed in finishing ninth overall, but we'll build on it and improve next year."
 
Junior Shani White finished off the season in a tie for 37th alongside Appalachian State's Abby Bolt after shooting a 16-over-par 232 (79-75-78). White, the only Warhawk to record three sub-80 rounds during the event, came through with 13 pars and one birdie at the third hole.
 
Sophomore Eva Bjornsdottir placed 48th with a 23-over-par 239 (79-83-77). Bjornsdottir emerged with 12 pars and a birdie in the third round.
 
Olivia Landberg completed the tournament with a 25-over-par 241 (81-79-81), tying for 51st. Landberg tallied 12 pars in the third round.
