Landberg, ULM Finish Fourth at Jan Weaver Invitational

MURRAY, Ky.
– Senior Olivia Landberg, who fired a career-best 218 to tie for fourth, and sophomore Jahaanvie Walia, who tied for 11th with a score of 225, helped lead ULM to a fourth-place finish at the Jan Weaver Invitational that concluded on Saturday, April 6 at the Miller Memorial Golf Course. The Warhawks carded a 39-over-par 903 (297-300-306) to finish 11 shots behind third-place Murray State (285-300-307 – 892).

It marked ULM's fifth Top 10 finish in eight tournaments during the 2018-19 season.

Landberg, who led the field with 12 birdies, finished the tournament with a 2-over-par 218 (71-72-75), tying Rutgers' Harriet Allsebrook for fourth place. Her previous low score of 224 came in the HBU Husky Invitational (March 18-19) where she placed second.

Walia, who carded the lowest third-round score by a Warhawk, closed with a 9-over-par 225 (76-76-73). She also led the team with 35 pars during the tournament.

"The ladies held on to finish fourth at the Murray State Jan Weaver Invitational," ULM Director of Golf Tim Baldwin said. "Olivia Landberg, who tied for fourth, and Jahaanvie Walia, who tied for 11th, highlighted the weekend performances.

"As a team, we competed well this weekend but still left a lot of shots out there."

Junior Shani White, who recorded six birdies, shot a 13-over-par 229 (74-77-78) to tie for 21st in the 97-player field. White was followed on the leaderboard by sophomore Sharmaine Rapisura, who competed as an individual and tied for 25th with a 14-over score of 230 (79-71-80).

Senior Scarlett Eaton, who posted an eagle to go along with six birdies, finished in a tie for 31st with a 15-over-par 231 (76-75-80). Sophomore Eva Bjornsdottir completed ULM's scorecard with a 25-over 241 (79-77-85), good for a tied for 66th place.

Top individual honors at the Jan Weaver Invitational went to Eastern Kentucky's Elsa Moberly, who carded a 5-under-par 211 (70-68-73). Moberly was one of three Colonels to place in the Top 15, helping EKU capture the team crown with a 20-over-par 884 (294-293-297), three strokes ahead of second-place Rutgers.

Up next, ULM competes in the 2019 Sun Belt Championships, scheduled for April 15-17 at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida.
