Seven Returners Set to Lead Men's Golf into 2019-20 Season

Men's Golf

MONROE, La. – ULM men's golf head coach Tim Baldwin announced the team's 2019-20 schedule Thursday morning.

"We've got an outstanding schedule planned for the team this year," Baldwin said. "We will compete against some great programs on some outstanding venues, allowing us the opportunity to showcase our talent and grow our program."

ULM returns seven golfers from last year's Sun Belt Tournament runner-up team, led by NCAA regional qualifier Guillaume Fanonnel. Fanonnel was also a First Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection, while teammate Otto Van Buynder was a Second Team All-SBC selection.

"Overall, our program is on the move with everyone back and the addition of two new freshman," Baldwin said. "It will be very important for us to get off to a solid start and keep momentum going."

The Warhawks will play in four events this fall before wrapping up the season with six regular season tournaments in the spring, followed by the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at the end of April.

The Warhawks open the fall slate on September 16 with the UTSA/Lonestar Invitational in San Antonio. A week later, the Warhawks head to Birmingham for the UAB Invitational at Greystone.

On October 5th, ULM visits Shreveport for the LSU/David Toms Intercollegiate Tournament.

"This will be the best opportunity for local support to see us compete during the fall," Baldwin said.

ULM then closes the fall portion of the schedule on Oct. 27 and 28 at the 2019 Grandover Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C.

The Warhawks take the months of November and December off from competition before resuming in late January with a trip to the desert. ULM travels to the Arizona Intercollegiate on Jan. 27 and 28 in Tucson.

ULM then travels to Texas twice in February, heading to the All-American in Houston on Feb. 16 and the Border Olympics in Laredo on Feb. 24.

ULM visits Alabama in March to play in the Tiger Invitational at Auburn on March 8. The following week, the Warhawks come back to the Pelican State to play in the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette.

The Warhawks wrap up the regular season on April 13 and 14 at the Old Waverly Intercollegiate in West Point, Miss. After a week off, ULM heads to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at Mystic Creek in El Dorado, Ark.

"The Sun Belt Conference is very competitive again this year with as many as five to six teams having the potential to earn at large bids to the NCAA Regionals," Baldwin said.

NCAA regionals are set for six different sites, running from May 18 to 20, followed by the NCAA Championship tournament in Scottsdale, Ariz., from May 29 to June 3.
