MOBILE, Ala. – ULM's
Jahaanvie Walia was one of three golfers on the Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course to fire a third-round 69, including individual champion Tia Teiniketo (UAB) and Gracie Aday (Incarnate Word), as she finished third overall in the South Alabama Intercollegiate, which drew to close on Monday.
Walia, who entered the final round in a five-way tie for fifth, wrapped up the tournament by tying her lowest personal round as a collegiate (69), set in the first round of the event. Walia opened play on the ninth hole and would record one birdie and eight pars in her first nine holes. She followed that by notching two birdies and seven pars on the back nine, leapfrogging Sara Zmikova (Houston Baptist) and Siripatsorn Patchana (Grand Canyon) in the process.
Walia's 5-under-par score of 211 (69-73-69) helped ULM post a 10
th place team finish in the event. The Warhawks finished 29-over-par with a combined score of 893 (298-301-294), 25 shots off the pace established by UAB, which took the team crown with a 4-over-par score of 868 (285-285-298).

Tim Baldwin said. "It was a nice start to the year for the ladies."
The top individual on the weekend was Teinketo (UAB), who was seven shots better than Walia and four strokes better than second-place finisher Sarah Arnold (Western Kentucky). Teinketo closed with a 12-under-par score of 204 (67-68-69).
The second-best finish for the Warhawks was
Shani White, who finished in a five-way tie for 35
th after posting a 7-over-par score of 223 (74-74-75). Tying with four other Warhawks for the second-lowest score of the day, White came through with 11 pars and two birdies, on the sixth and 11
th greens.
Eva Bjornsdottir shaved two strokes off her first and second round scores, finishing with a 75 in the final round of play. The junior ULM standout was 13-over-par with a 229 (77-77-75) for the tournament after driving home four birdies and seven pars on Monday afternoon.
ULM's
Line Petersen, taking part in the tournament as an individual, concluded her first collegiate tournament in a four-way tie for 66
th by virtue of a 14-over-par score of 230 (74-78-75). Petersen's final round of 75, her best of the three-day event, included 11 pars and a birdie, which came on the 10
th hole.
Angela Tocco also came through with a third round 75, climbing five spots on the leaderboard to finish 78
th overall with an 18-over-par score of 234 (82-77-75). Tocco, who improved her scores in both the second and third round, opened play on Monday with two birdies in her first four holes, along with six pars on the front nine, before closing with six pars on the back nine.
Sharmaine Rapisura rounded out the ULM scorecard by finishing in a three-way tie for 82
nd. Rapisura was 21-over-par with a 237 (78-79-80) for the tournament. Her final round scorecard included nine pars and a birdie over the course of the day. After overcoming a shaky start, Rapisura settled down on the back nine to record five straight birdies in a seven-hole stretch.
The Warhawks return to the course in two weeks to take part in the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Invitational in Palm Desert, California on Sept. 28-29.
