Warhawk Tennis Adds Two for Spring Season

MONROE, La. – ULM tennis coach Jessica Giuggioli has announced a pair of signings for the spring portion of the 2019-20 season. Giovanna Pereira and Jelena Lopicic will join the Warhawks in January.

"We're very excited for the addition of Giovanna and Jelena," Giuggioli said. "They are players with high intensity and they will bring good energy to the team."

Pereira hails from Minas Gerais, Brazil. She was the COSAT Bahia Juniors Cup 16s champion, a finalist in the 2016 Team Federations Cup (Uberlandia MG) and a doubles finalist in the 2019 Brasileirao (Uberlandia MG). Pereira attended Escola Estadual Professora Ana Letro Staacks. She is the daughter of Gleibson Rodrigues Pereira and Edilza Coelho Moreira Pereria.

"Giovanna is very athletic and runs for every ball," Giuggioli said. "Her determination on court will definitely serve her well in college tennis."

Lopicic is a native of Belgrade, Serbia. In her career, Lopicic won the 14s and 16s National Club Championship Belgrade and the 18s National Club Championship Belgrade. She placed second in the 18s National Club Championship Serbia and third in the 14s and 16s National Club Championship Serbia. She has also won three singles national tournaments in Serbia in 16s, along with two titles in 14s. Lopicic attended school at Dositej. She is the daughter of Vladimir Lopicic and Marija Lopicic.

"Jelena has great technique and I have no doubt she will continue to improve throughout her college career," Giuggioli said.

The Warhawks will open the spring 2020 season on Jan. 24 at Central Arkansas.
