Men's Golf

MONROE, La. – The ULM men's golf team is back on the course for the first time in two weeks at the Intercollegiate at The Grove Monday and Tuesday at The Grove Club in College Grove, Tennessee.

The tournament will consist of 18 holes each day instead of the typical 36-18 format due to wet conditions caused by Hurricane Delta.

The Grove Club is a par-72 course covering 7,368 yards. The course was designed by Greg Norman and has earned the reputation as one of the top private courses in Middle Tennessee.

Six Warhawks are slated to participate in the event, led by seniors Guillaume Fanonnel and Andoni Etchenique. Freshman Melan Dhaubhadel, sophomore Keegan McLachlan, freshman Cody Winkler and sophomore Otto Van Buynder round out the field.

Fanonnel is coming off his first collegiate victory at the Graeme McDowell Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama, on Sept. 29-30. He shot back-to-back rounds of 5-under-par 67 to close the tournament at 10-under-par 206 (72-67-67). Through two tournaments, he ranks second on the team in scoring average at 70.83. His two rounds of 67 are the two lowest scoring rounds by any Warhawk this season. He also leads the team in par-5 scoring (4.48), birdies (25) and greens in regulation (.759).

Etchenique also had a strong performance at the Graeme McDowell Invitational, tying for third at 4-under-par 212 (71-72-69). He has placed inside the top three at both tournaments this fall, after finishing second at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate. He leads the Warhawks in scoring average at 70.5, and has the second-lowest round of any Warhawk with a 68 in the final round of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate. He also leads ULM in first-round average (70.0), final-round average (68.5), par-3 scoring (3.04), par-4 scoring (3.98), pars per round (11.5) and birdie conversion (.316).

Dhaubhadel is playing in his third tournament as a Warhawk after tying for 22nd at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate with a 3-over-par 219 and tying for 41st at the Graeme McDowell Invitational with a 227. He sits third on the team with 11.0 pars per round. He ranks fourth on the team with a 74.33 scoring average. He has converted 15 birdies on the season.

McLachlan tied for 37th at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate with a 223 and tied for 54th at the Graeme McDowell Invitational at 232. He has a 75.83 scoring average through two tournaments.
