ULM Claims 2 Singles Titles, 4 Doubles Matches at LA Tech Invite

RUSTON, La. – The ULM tennis team won a pair of singles titles and won four doubles matches on the final day of the Louisiana Tech Invitational Sunday at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.

Sophomore Hala Badwy won her second straight tournament, taking the Flight 1 singles title over Louisiana Tech's Leonie Schuknecht, 7-5, 7-5. Badwy completes the fall schedule with a 6-3 record in singles.

Also, in Flight 1, senior Drousile Dzeubou placed third with a win over the Ragin' Cajuns' Floriane Picaut, 6-1, 6-3. Dzeubou was 5-4 in singles matches in the fall.

In Flight 2, senior Madalina Grigoriu completed a perfect fall singles season with her second tournament championship, winning the title over LA Tech's Ilana Tetruashvili, 6-4, 6-4. She won all eight of her singles matches in the fall schedule.

Freshman Daniela Hernandez finished fourth in Flight 2 singles after falling to Arkansas State's Hunter Roper, 6-4, 6-4.

In Flight 3, junior Jimena Paula Garbino picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Grambling State's Brittney Combest.

In Flight 4, sophomore Jelena Lopicic picked up a win over GSU's Natalie Malone, 6-2, 6-4.

In doubles action, ULM swept the action in Flights 2 and 3. In Flight 2, Garbino and Hernandez defeated the Ragin' Cajuns' Clara Mantaux and Isabella Kierkegaard, 6-4, and LA Tech's Alexia Romero and Lara Unkovich, 7-6 (4). In Flight 3, Dzeubou and Lopicic knocked off GSU's Paige Stanford and Ana Ochoa, 6-3, and GSU's Paige Stanford and Ana Ochoa, 6-3.

In Flight 1, Badwy and Grigoriu lost to the Ragin' Cajuns' Floriane Picaut and Dana Radovanovic, 6-3, and LA Tech's Leonie Schuknecht and Anastasiia Salenko, 6-3.

The Warhawks are off until the start of the spring season.
