MONROE, La. – ULM Director of Golf Tim Baldwin has announced the signing of Javier Balbastre to a National Letter of Intent.
Balbastre, a native of Valencia, Spain, will join the Warhawks for the 2021-22 season.
"Javier is an up-and-coming player," Baldwin said. "He has improved significantly in the last year as his recent results exemplify."
Balbastre is ranked in the Top 500 by Scratch Players World Ranking and has a 70.33 stroke average for his last five events, including 10 of his 12 rounds under par.
"I chose ULM because it feels like the right combination of academics and golf," Balbastre said. "Coach Baldwin seems like the right mentor because of his commitment and passion to the team and the sport we both love. The university has a great location to practice year-round and the golf program is very competitive. I am ready to play with the best."
"I was very impressed with his work ethic and attitude," Baldwin said. "He truly wants to get better and be in a position to play professionally one day. He will be a nice addition to our team."
