Tennis
MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team seeks its third-straight win at Heard Stadium on Friday, Feb. 14 when the Warhawks clash with visiting Delta State at 2 p.m. The home winning streak dates back to March 31, 2019, when ULM claimed a 4-3 victory over Sun Belt Conference foe Appalachian State.

ULM first-year head coach Jessica Giuggioli will utilize the same doubles and singles lineup for the third-straight match. The doubles pairings include Jimena Garbino/Emma Billon (1-1) at the No. 1 position and Madalina Grigoriu / Giovanna Pereira (2-0) at No. 2. Garbino (4-3 overall singles record) anchors the singles lineup from the No. 1 position, followed by Grigoriu (4-1) at No. 2, Billon (4-2) at No. 3, Pereira (1-1) at No. 4 and Jelena Lopicic (1-1) at No. 5.

The Warhawks continue to play with a short-handed lineup as Emilia Alfaro, who compiled a 7-2 singles and 4-3 doubles record last fall, remains sidelined with a wrist injury.

It marks the second match of the season for Delta State, which suffered a 7-0 setback to Southern Miss last Saturday.

ULM Captures First Win of Spring, Downing Grambling State (Feb. 8): The ULM tennis team opened its 2020 home season with a decisive 6-1 victory over Grambling State at Heard Stadium. The Warhawks' doubles tandem of Madalina Grigoriu and Giovanna Pereira produced a 6-1 win against Danna Galeano and Natalie Malone at No. 2, then ULM (1-1) earned its first point of the afternoon when Jimena Garbino and Emma Billon posted a 6-1 victory over the Tigers' Brittney Combest and Ana Ochoa at the No. 1 doubles position.

The lone point in the match for Grambling State (0-5) came at No. 6 singles where Malone was awarded a walkover win since the Warhawks didn't have a sixth player in the lineup.
