SAN ANTONIO, Texas – ULM junior Jahaanvie Walia fired a 3-under-par 69 Wednesday (March 11) to climb 16 spots on the individual leaderboard and finished in a four-way tie for fourth with a 6-over-par 222 (75-78-69) at the Maryb Kauth Invitational. Her 69 marked the lowest round recorded in the 54-hole event.

Walia's third-round 69 also matched her lowest collegiate scoring round, which she achieved twice (first and third rounds) during the 2019-20 season-opening South Alabama Intercollegiate last September.

It also marked Walia's third Top-5 finish of the season and eighth of her career as a member of the Warhawk golf program. She tallied eight pars and seven birdies over the final 18 holes. Walia finished off the front nine with four birdies, which came at the second, 13th, 14th, 15th and 17th holes. Her remaining birdies came at the third and ninth holes. Walia completed the 54-hole tournament with 12 birdies, which tied for the second-highest total in the 46-player field.

"Jahaanvie Walia played a great round today," ULM Director of Golf Tim Baldwin said. "Jahaanvie shot the low round of the week and 3-under 69 and moved up 16 spots in the final round to finish tied for fourth overall. She made seven birdies today, which is really awesome.

"I'm very proud of how Jahaanvie turned it on today. This is a reflection of how hard she works and her desire to improve."

Old Dominion's Jana Melichova, who carded a 3-under-par 213 (70-70-73), was the individual medalist. Melichova, the only player finish under par in the event, was followed by host UTSA's Camryn Carreon, who posted an even-par 216.

As a team, ULM placed seventh in the nine-team field with a 69-over-par 933 (308-314-311). UTSA claimed the team title with a 22-over-par 886 (292-294-300) at the par-72, 6,159-yard San Antonio Country Club course. ODU finished second at 45-over-par 909 and Texas State took third at 46-over 910.

"Overall, the team finished seventh out of nine teams," Baldwin said. "So, we'll look to bounce back next week at the HBU Women's Invitational."

ULM senior Shani White concluded the two-day event in a three-way tie for 24th with an 18-over-par 234 (75-78-81). Although White didn't record a birdie during the final round, she emerged with seven pars. She recorded a total of 33 pars over 54 holes.

Junior Eva Bjornsdottir posted her third Top-30 performance of the season, finishing in a five-way tie for 27th with a 21-over-par 237 (79-80-78). She registered ULM's second-lowest round (78) Wednesday, tallying 11 pars and two birdies, which came on the third and fifth greens.

With the second-lowest scorecard by a Warhawk on the day (78), She came through with 11 pars and two birdies, which came on the third and fifth greens.

Junior Sharmaine Rapisura closed out the tournament in a three-way tie for 36th with a 25-over-par 241 (79-78-84). Rapisura managed nine pars in the final round.

ULM senior Angela Tocco shot a 31-over-par 247 (82-82-83) and placed tied for 42nd. Tocco reached double figures in pars Wednesday, totaling 10.
