ULM Tennis Adds Grad Transfer & Freshman to 2020-21 Roster

MONROE, La. – First-year ULM head tennis coach Jessica Giuggioli has announced the addition of two players to the 2020-21 roster, including graduate transfer Drousile Dzeubou, from Radford University, and incoming freshman Daniela Hernandez, from Caracas, Venezuela.
 
The 5-foot-10 Dzeubou was a three-time first-team All-Big South selection at Radford where she accounted for 124 total victories, including 64 in singles play and 60 in doubles. She became the first tennis player in program history to earn first-team all-conference honors three times. A native of Turin, Italy, Dzeubou posted a winning record in singles throughout her four-year collegiate career while playing primarily at the No. 1 and 2 positions.
 
As a junior in 2018-19, she compiled an overall record of 36-15 (.706), going 18-7 in singles and 18-8 in doubles play. Dzeubou went 15-4 (.789) at the No. 2 position. As a sophomore in 2017-18, she produced 39 total wins, including 16 in singles action and 23 in doubles.
 
Dzeubou played her first three seasons at Radford for Giuggioli.
 
"I have known 'Dru' for several years, and she's a very talented, aggressive player," Giuggioli said. "Throughout her collegiate career, she has grown as a person and as a player, and I look forward to coaching her again through her senior year."
 
Dzeubou, who will earn her bachelor's degree in business and economics, plans to pursue a Master of Business Administration at ULM.
 
The 5-5 Hernandez won the 2019 L1A Sectional and L1 Sectional Glen Head Racquet & Fitness (GHRF) championships for 18-year-old girls. She also advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2019 Empire Cup National Doubles (National L4), played at Cornell University.
 
A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Hernandez received a full scholarship to attend the John McEnroe Tennis Academy in New York City. She most recently moved to the West Side Tennis Club in Queens, N.Y., to train with Luke Jensen.
 
As a 16-year-old, Hernandez won the G3 Regional Girls championship in her hometown of Caracas.
 
She burst onto the scene as a 14-year-old, claiming the National Championship in Valencia, Venezuela. Hernandez advanced to the doubles final and singles quarterfinals in the COSAT International Tournament in Maracaibo, Venezuela. She won the doubles title and progressed to the singles quarterfinals at the COSAT International Tournament in Lara, Venezuela. Hernandez became doubles champion and advanced to the singles semifinals at the National II G2 tourney. In addition, she advanced to the doubles final and singles semifinals at the COSAT International Tournament.
 
"Daniela has a very unique background that has shaped her into the highly motivated player that she is today," Giuggioli said. "She has a well-rounded game, and I look forward to helping her develop, and achieve her goals."
 
This spring, Hernandez will graduate from Benjamin Cardoza High School in Queens, New York. She is undecided on an academic major at ULM.
