ULM’s Top 20 Individual Performances, Presented by BancorpSouth

A list of ULM's Top 20 Individual Performances in 2019-20 was compiled by Senior Associate Athletics Director John Lewandowski, Associate Athletic Communications Director Mike Hammett, ULMWarhawks.com Online Columnist Paul Letlow and the play-by-play "Voice of the Warhawks" Nick White.
 
The list of ULM's Top 20 Individual Performances, is presented by BancorpSouth, and sophomore golfer Otto Van Buynder kicks off the countdown at No. 20.
 
Otto Van Buynder led four Warhawk golfers who placed inside the Top 20 as ULM claimed the Border Olympics title. Van Buynder wrapped up play tied for eighth at 1-under-par 215 (74-70-71). He capped off his third-round performance by recording 11 pars and four birdies on the third, fourth, seventh and 13th greens.
 
Special Mention (also receiving votes):
 
Tyree White hit 7-of-13 field-goal attempts, including 2-of-4 3s, and finished with a game-high 18 points at Arkansas State, as ULM snapped a 14-game losing streak at First National Bank Arena. White added six rebounds, three assists and a steal against the Red Wolves.
 
Jasmine Scott-Kilgo claimed the first long jump title of her collegiate career at the Houston G5 & Super 22 Invitational, recording a personal-best jump of 20-1/2 feet (6.11 meters) on her fourth attempt of the afternoon.
 
ULM's No. 2-seeded tandem of Grace Convey and Julia Blazek recorded an impressive 21-18, 21-19 victory over Tampa's duo of Bri Civiero and Valerie Rosequist. The combination of Convey and Blazek accounted for four wins this spring to pace the Warhawks.
 
Chase Day recorded a career-high 12 tackles and an interception in ULM's 31-9 win over Grambling State in the season opener. His interception and 13-yard return came late in the second quarter and helped set up a field goal as the Warhawks built a 17-6 lead. Early in the third quarter, he stopped Grambling quarterback Jeremy Hickbottom a yard shy of a first down on a fourth-and-6 play from the ULM 27.
 
Markis McCray posted the first 100-yard receiving game of his career in the home finale against Coastal Carolina while combining with Caleb Evans for the longest pass play in ULM history – a 98-yard scoring play in the first quarter. He had four receptions for 117 yards against CCU and finished with a career-best 212 all-purpose yards.
 
Chris Efretuei scored a season-high 15 points (6-of-11 FG shooting) and grabbed eight rebounds (7 offensive boards) in ULM's 83-77 win over the Ragin' Cajuns.
 
Chris Efretuei recorded his first career double-double at Little Rock with 12 points (6-of-12 FG shooting) and a career-best 17 rebounds (6 offensive boards).
 
Kennedy Page went 2-for-3, including an RBI double in the third inning, and started a game-changing double play in the fifth, catching a line drive in left field and throwing out the potential game-tying base runner at home, at Georgia Southern. Page's defensive gem preserved ULM's 4-3 lead en route to a 6-3 victory.
 
Lauren Fitch scored a career-high 28 points and pulled down a career-best eight rebounds at Tennessee Tech.
 
Micaiah Dendy claimed third place in the women's triple jump with a leap of 40-1 1/2 (12.23 meters) at the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. Dendy also took eighth in the long jump at 18-5 1/4 (5.62m).
 
Guillaume Fanonnel earned the second Top-5 finish of the season and fourth of his career at the David Toms Intercollegiate, finishing the two-day, three-round event at 11-under-par 205 (68-68-69), as he closed in a tie for fifth. It marked Fanonnel's six Top-10 performance of his collegiate career. His third-round 69 came by virtue of an eagle, two birdies and 14 pars.
 
Gara Beth Self sparked a rally at Sun Belt Conference co-leader Coastal Carolina, scoring a career-high 28 points (5-of-11 3-point shooting), while collecting three rebounds, two assists and five steals.
 
Madalina Grigoriu came through with a clutch, three-set win over McNeese's Sofia San Jose Mareno, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4, as the match resulted in a 3-3 tie.
 
Michael Ertel scored 22 of his game-high 30 in the second half against Georgia Southern. Ertel opened the second half by netting 14 of ULM's first 17 points. He hit 7-of-10 field-goal attempts in the second half, including 3-of-5 3-pointers, and went 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.
 
Edith Jebet placed second overall in the Mook 4 Invitational, crossing the 4K finish line in a personal-record time of 15:25.5.
 
Ana Hogan delivered the game-winning hit, a base-clearing, three-run double, in the top of the eighth inning in ULM's 8-5 win at Central Arkansas.
 
Eric Hawkins won the silver medal in the 800-meter run at the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, thanks to his indoor personal-record time of 1:52.04.
 
Jahaanvie Walia fired a 3-under-par 69 to climb 16 spots on the individual leaderboard and finished in a four-way tie for fourth with a 6-over-par 222 (75-78-69) at the Maryb Kauth Invitational. Her 69 marked the lowest round recorded in the 54-hole event. Walia's third-round 69 also matched her lowest collegiate scoring round. She tallied eight pars and seven birdies over the final 18 holes. Walia completed the tournament with 12 birdies, which tied for the second-highest total in the 46-player field.
 
Fiebe Tengrootenhuysen claimed her first collegiate individual crown in the women's 400-meter dash at the Samford Bulldog Open, breaking the program's 24-year record in the process as she crossed the line in 56.26. Her time eclipsed the previous mark of Loretta Curry (56.83), which came in 1996.
 
Amber Coons threw a five-inning complete-game shutout against Incarnate Word, allowing only one hit and two walks.
 
Honorable Mention:
 
Cam Barlow returned to the weekend rotation and picked up the win at McNeese, throwing six shutout innings, giving up four hits with no walks and four strikeouts.
 
Kate Blasingame produced a double-double against North Dakota, finishing with 21 kills and 11 digs.
 
Lauren Fitch spurred a last-minute rally at McNeese, finishing with 23 points, six rebounds, seven assists and three steals.
 
Jimena Garbino, who moved into the No. 1 singles position, produced ULM's only point in the 2020 season opener at Lamar with a 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 victory over Jasmin Buchta.
 
Whitney Goins caught fire from deep late in the game against Troy, hitting five 3-pointers and finishing with a career-high 19 points.
 
Madeline Hogan recorded more than 20 digs in three-straight matches late in the season, beginning the streak with a season-high 27 at Georgia Southern.
 
Ryan Humeniuk contributed four hits with a double, triple and four RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base against Grambling.
 
Tyler Lien surrendered three runs to the first three batters of the game, but recovered to allow just one more hit over five innings and takes a no-decision against No. 5 Ole Miss.
 
Rebekka Schubert placed fifth in the women's pentathlon at the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, amassing a school-record 3,516 points (previous mark: 3,502 points by Danielle O'Donnel, 2012). Schubert was among the Top-6 finishers in each event, including a third-place performance in the long jump, where she cleared 18-7. Schubert wrapped up the shot put in fourth, with an indoor personal-best heave of 38-4 3/4, and took fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.15. She closed out the high jump (4-11) and 800-meter run (2:25.28) with a pair of sixth-place finishes.
 
McKinley Thiede posted a double-double with 30 assists and 10 digs in a five-set win at Little Rock.
 
Otto Van Buynder was ULM's top individual finisher at the Tiger Invitational, placing fifth with a 4-under-par 212 (69-72-71). Van Buynder's final-round 71 came by virtue of 13 pars and five birdies, which he recorded on the fourth, 11th and 12th greens. He finished five shots behind individual champion.
 
Jahaanvie Walia placed fourth on the individual leaderboard with a 10-over-par score of 226 (73-75-78) at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, California. Walia finished just seven shots behind the individual champion. She carded two birdies in first round before coming through with three birdies and 10 pars in the second round. In the final round, Walia emerged with four pars and a birdie on the front nine before closing the back nine with a birdie and five pars.
 
Shani White finished in a three-way tie for ninth at 9-over-par 225 (76-75-74) at Texas State Invitational. Her second-round score of 75 came by virtue of 11 pars and one birdie, which took place on the 11th hole. She climbed six spots on the leaderboard in the third round after recording 12 pars and a pair of birdies on the first and 15th greens.
 
Tyree White scored 18 points and collected six rebounds and three assists in ULM's 83-77 win over the Ragin' Cajuns. White made 6-of-12 shots from the field, including 4-of-5 3-pointers.
 
Murphy Williams tossed a complete-game shutout against Southern, scattering two hits while recording four strikeouts and no walks.
