ULM Track Signs Versatile Thrower Saldutto to NLI

MONROE, La. – Callan Saldutto, a versatile thrower from Notre Dame College in Welland, Ontario, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend ULM and compete in track and field in 2020-21.
 
Saldutto posted personal bests of 19.57m in the weight throw (25lb), 58.45m in the javelin (700g), 51.05m in the hammer (5k), 52.98m in the discus (1.5k) and 16.87m in the shot put during his high school career.
 
In 2019, he placed sixth in the shot put, ninth in the discus and 12th in the javelin in the senior boys' division at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association Track & Field Championships at the University of Guelph. Saldutto won the shot put title in the 2019 Southern Ontario Secondary Schools Association Championships at Niagara Olympic Club.
 
While representing the Niagara Olympic Club, he earned a bronze medal in the men's U18 discus while finishing fifth in the shot put and 10th in the javelin in the 2018 Royal Canadian Legion Youth Track & Field Championships in Brandon, Manitoba.
 
Saldutto won three medals in the 2018 OFSAA Championships at York University, claiming silver in the junior boys' discus (57.45m) and a pair of bronze medals in the javelin (55.39m) and shot put (16.36m).
 
He set two meet records in the 2018 Zone 3 Championships: 53.52m in the discus and 53.27m in the javelin.
 
While representing the Brantford Track & Field Club, Saldutto captured two medals at the 2018 Hershey Canadian Indoor U18/U20 Championships in Montreal, Quebec, taking the silver in the youth weight throw (19.18m) and bronze in the youth shot put (14.60m).
 
In 2017-18, he was selected Junior Boys Athlete of the Year and track MVP at Notre Dame College.
 
Saldutto also was named Notre Dame College Junior Boys Athlete of the Year as well as track Rookie of the Year in 2016-17. As a freshman, Saldutto won the gold medal in the midget boys' discus in the OFSAA Championships in Belleville. He also set Zone 3 Championships meet records in the 100m hurdles (15.21) and discus throw (44.29m) in 2017.
