Warhawks Tee Off in Hoover Invitational Monday

MONROE, La. – The ULM women's golf plays its second tournament of the fall season Monday and Tuesday at the Hoover Invitational, hosted by UAB, at Hoover Country Club in Hoover, Alabama.

The Hoover Country Club is a par-72 course over 6,175 yards. The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday.

"We're really excited to get this tournament started in Hoover," ULM assistant golf coach Lana Hodge said. We had some great qualifying scores and I think the girls are ready to pick up where we left off during our last tournament in Mobile. The course looks to be in great shape. I think there will be some opportunities to make birdies."

The Warhawk lineup consists of five players who each played in the first tournament of the fall at the USA Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala. Sophomore Chantal Dueringer, senior Shani White, junior Eva Bjornsdottir, freshman Line Petersen and junior Jahaanvie Walia will represent the Warhawks in Hoover.

Dueringer opened her Warhawk career with a 3-under-par 213 (73-70-70) to finish tied for third at the USA Intercollegiate. She led all golfers at the USA Intercollegiate with a 3.80 stroke average on par-4 holes, scoring 6-under-par on par-4s for the tournament. She sunk 12 birdies in the season-opening event, ranking fourth among players in the tournament.

White closed the USA Intercollegiate with her best round of the tournament, shooting a final round 1-under-par 71 to tie for 20th at 223 (74-78-71). In her final round, she collected five of her six birdies for the tournament, with three of them coming on par-5 holes. She led the team in par-5 stroke average at 4.83.

Bjornsdottir competed as an individual at the USA Intercollegiate and shot a 227 (76-73-78). She picked up four birdies during the USA Intercollegiate. She shot a 1-over-par 73 in the second round for her best round of the tournament. She led ULM with 37 pars in the tournament.

Petersen tied for 18th place at the USA Intercollegiate after shooting a 6-over-par 222 (73-76-73). She was third at the USA Intercollegiate in par-3 stroke average (2.92). Petersen ranked third on the team with seven birdies in the season-opening tournament.

Walia tied for 14th in Mobile with a 4-over-par 220 (72-76-72). Her nine birdies were second-best on the team. She finished with a 4.83 stroke average on par-5 holes, also good for second on the team.
