Dueringer Moves Up to Third, Women's Golf in Fourth at USA Intercollegiate

Women's Golf

MOBILE, Ala. – ULM sophomore Chantal Dueringer shot a 2-under-par 70 to move into a tie for third place, while the Warhawk women's golf team is in fourth place following the second day of the USA Intercollegiate Sunday at RTJ Golf Trail-Crossings Course.

The Warhawks shot a second-round 300 and are at 12-over-par 592 through two rounds. Western Kentucky leads the tournament at 2-under-par 574.

"Overall, it wasn't our best day as a team," ULM assistant golf coach Lana Hodge said. "I think each player has a good idea of what they need to capitalize on better during our final round tomorrow."

Dueringer had a steady round on Sunday. After posting a 1-over-par 73 on Saturday, she opened Sunday with a birdie on the par-4 first hole to move back to even par for the tournament. Dueringer used back-to-back birdies, one on the par-4 12th and another on the par-5 13th, to drop to 1-under-par for the tournament and to 2-under-par in the round. She closed the round with five consecutive pars to finish with 14 pars on the morning. Dueringer enters Monday's third and final round in a four-way tie for third place at 1-under-par 143 (73-70), five shots off the lead of South Alabama's Julie Hovland.

"Chantal played very well," Hodge said. "She was putting better, so hopefully, she can carry that over to tomorrow and have a great finish in her first tournament as a Warhawk."

Junior Jahaanvie Walia is tied for 13th place after shooting a second-round 76 to sit at 4-over-par 148 (72-76) for the tournament. Walia picked up her lone birdie of the day on the par-5 16th and had 12 pars for the round.

Two Warhawks are part of a four-way tie for 16th place. Freshman Line Petersen also shot a round of 76 on Sunday and is a shot behind Walia at 5-over-par 149 (73-76) for the tournament. Petersen birdied the par-3 second hole for the second consecutive round before adding another birdie on the par-4 fifth. She totaled 11 pars on the day.

Junior Eva Bjornsdottir, competing as an individual, also is tied for 16th. Bjornsdottir dropped three shots from her first round. She shot a 1-over-par 73 in the second round and is at 149 (76-73) for the tournament. Bjornsdottir had a strong front nine on Sunday, picking up birdies on the second, par-5 fourth and par-5 sixth holes. Bjornsdottir picked up 11 pars in the round.

"Eva had a great round going at 3-under through 12 holes," Hodge said. "She made a few bogeys coming in, but still had a good finish at 1-over for the day."

Senior Shani White posted a second-round 78 to sit at an 8-over-par 152 (74-78) through two rounds. White earned 12 pars on the day.

Freshman Charlotte Fourdraine picked up a second-round 78 and is at 158 (80-78) through her first two rounds. Fourdraine birdied the par-4 15th and had 10 pars.

"We're excited to get on the course tomorrow and have a strong showing in the final round," Hodge said.
