Tennis
MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team puts a pair of winning streaks on the line on Wednesday, March 3, when it heads to Lafayette for a 2 p.m. clash with the host Ragin' Cajuns. The Warhawks have won their last three matches in the 2021 spring season and their last 10 head-to-head matches against the Ragin' Cajuns in the series since the 2009 campaign.

ULM (3-1) has posted successive 5-2 wins over Lamar (Feb. 7), Stephen F. Austin (Feb. 9) and Louisiana Tech (Feb. 24) after opening the season with a 5-2 setback at Samford on February 2. It marks the first three-match streak for the Warhawks since they won seven straight between February 7, 2019 and March 17, 2019.

Among the top individual performers for ULM is Madalina Grigoriu, who enters the match with an 11-1 mark in singles play. She posted eight of those wins in tournament play and has two as the No. 4 seed for the Warhawks during the 2021 spring slate.

Teammates Hala Badwy and Drousile Dzeubou have seven singles wins apiece, claiming six and five victories, respectively, in tournament play. Jimena Paula Garbino and Daniela Hernandez have also contributed five singles victories apiece for ULM in the 2020-21 season.

Garbino and Hernandez have teamed up for three wins in doubles play, claiming two of those victories as the No. 3 seed for ULM.

The Ragin' Cajuns (4-3), which are a perfect 3-0 at home, have won two of their last three matches since February 21, when they came through with a 4-0 win over McNeese State. That victory was followed by a 4-0 decision against Southeastern Louisiana, however the Ragin' Cajuns fell to Houston by a 4-0 margin in their most recent outing on February 27.

Three players—Isabella Klerkegaard, Floraine Picaut, Lucie Raquin—lead the team in singles victories with three victories apiece. Picaut has earned two of those wins as the No. 1 seed, while Raquin and Klerkegaard have two wins at the No. 3 and No. 5 seed, respectively.

Two Cajun doubles pairs have notched three wins on the season. Picaut and Clara Mantaux are 3-0 in doubles action while Raquin and Babette Burgersdijk are 3-2 in doubles competition.

ULM will head home after the match to face Alcorn State (March 6) and Grambling State (March 7) at Heard Stadium.
