Warhawks Split with Texas A&M-Kingsville, No. 10 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Warhawk beach volleyball team wrapped up the Fight In The Fort on Saturday with a split by earning a victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville, 3-2, and a 5-0 loss to No. 10 TCU.
 
ULM was 2-2 in the tournament, winning a match on Friday against Stephen F. Austin, and suffering both losses to host TCU.

The Warhawks (9-9) earned their second win at the Fight for the Fort by defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville in the morning match by a 3-2 margin. It marks the fifth win this season by ULM in one-point matches.
 
Elizabeth Moreland and Abbey Bufkin provided the Warhawks with the first point of the match when they defeated Macie Satterwhite and Kapri Pelle by scores of 21-11, 21-13 in the battle of No. 4 seeds. Texas A&M-Kingsville answered with a point of its own as the fifth-seeded tandem of Emily North and Rylie Anderson completed a three-set win by scores of 21-19, 24-26 and 15-12 over Ina Gosen and Avery Reynolds.
 
ULM regained the lead, 2-1, with a two-set win for Anna Demmer and Katie McKay, who downed Macy Berg and Tenley Housler by scores of 21-17, 21-10 in the clash of No. 3 seeds. The pairing of Olivia Nicholson and Roxanne Morris kept the Javelinas alive for the win with a 15-21, 21-10, 15-9 triumph over Julia Blazek and Audrey Brooks in the meeting of No. 1 seeds.
 
The decisive victory in the match came by ULM's No. 2 seed of Abigail Elder and Kayla Gallant, who downed Shelby Williams and Debra Rogers by scores of 21-15, 21-19. The victory moved the Warhawks to .500 on the season.

Playing their fourth ranked opponent and second in as many days, the ULM beach volleyball team suffered a 5-0 defeat to No. 10 TCU, a Coastal Collegiate Sports Association foe, to conclude the Fight In The Fort on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Horned Frogs (13-3) established a 1-0 lead when the fourth-seeded pairing of Trinity Cavanaugh and Tara Patton posted a 21-14, 21-12 win over Elizabeth Moreland and Abbey Bufkin. TCU stretched the lead to two after Jordan Westendorff and Josie Miller emerged with a 21-18, 21-10 victory in a clash with No. 5 seeds with Elizabeth Moreland and Abbey Bufkin.
 
A 21-17, 21-14 win by the No. 1 seeds Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno Mateeva provided the Horned Frogs with their third win of the match, defeating Audrey Brooks and Julia Blazek. TCU stretched its lead to 4-0 in the match with a victory by Olivia Blackburn and Hailey Brockett, who downed Kayla Gallant and Abigail Elder in a battle of No. 2 seeds.
 
Looking to clinch the fifth point, TCU's Rochelle Scott and Maria Gonzalez came through with a 21-16, 21-17 victory against Katie McKay and Anna Demmer in a meeting of No. 3 pairs.

The Warhawks wrap up play in March by heading to Springfield, Missouri on Thursday, March 25, where they will compete in the Bear Challenge hosted by Missouri State. The first match comes against Coastal Collegiate Sports Association foe Missouri State at 11 a.m. The Warhawks follow that by clashing with Ottawa at 2 p.m.
