MONROE, La. – The ULM beach volleyball team will trek to Springfield, Missouri, on Wednesday, March 24, for a pair of matches against Missouri State and Ottawa. The Warhawks begin with a Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) clash with Missouri State at 5 p.m. At the conclusion of that match, ULM will face off against the Braves at 7:30 p.m.
ULM, which slipped to 9-10 overall on the season with a setback to No. 10 TCU in the final match of the Fight In The Fort, is looking to move over .500 for the first time this season. The Warhawks are also looking to halt a two-match losing streak in conference play, both of which came versus the Horned Frogs last weekend.
The Warhawks, in search of their first true road win of the slate, are led individually by the tandem of
Kayla Gallant and Abbie Elder, who have 12 wins on the season. Gallant and Elder have earned their last four wins as the No. 2 seed for the Warhawks, all in two sets.
Teammates
Audrey Brooks and
Julia Blazek have notched the second-most wins on the ULM unit. Brooks and Blazek have claimed all 11 victories as the No. 1 seed for the Warhawks, including seven in two sets. The tandem has claimed two of three-set wins in come-from-behind form after losing the opening set.
ULM has two pairings that are on the verge of double-digit wins on the season.
Anna Demmer and
Katie McKay have come through with nine victories, including the last four as a third seed. The other pair,
Elizabeth Moreland and
Abbey Bufkin, have earned all nine victories as the No. 4 seeds for the Warhawks.
The Warhawks are looking for their second win in the all-time series with Missouri State after emerging with a 4-1 victory in their inaugural meeting at the ULM Beach Invitational on March 11. The Bears (4-1) opened the season by triumphing 4-1 in a pair of matches against Ottawa on March 3. Missouri State claimed its most recent wins against Houston Baptist, 3-2, and New Orleans, 4-1, at the ULM Beach Invitational.
Ottawa heads to the Show Me State in search of its first win of the campaign after an 0-6 start. The Braves opened their fourth season of the program with a pair of setbacks to Texas A&M-Kingsville and Stephen F. Austin on February 26-27. The following week, at Missouri State, Ottawa suffered a pair of 4-1 setbacks to the Bears.
