MONROE, La. – The ULM track and field team makes its third trip to LSU this weekend, first of the outdoor season, where the Warhawks will take part in the Boots Garland Invitational on Saturday, April 17.
ULM made its first trip to Baton Rouge on January 16, competing in the LSU Purple Tiger, before returning 13 days later to take part in the LSU Louisiana Invitational. The Warhawks combined for 53 Top-10 finishes in those two events, including 35 Top-3 performances.
Four ULM competitors—
Eric Hawkins,
Jakob Fudge,
Nasya Ramirez and
Reggie Shallowhorn—have multiple Top-3 finishes at LSU this season.
Hawkins was second in both the men's 600-meter and 800-meter runs, while Fudge brought home a pair of third-place finishes in the shot put and weight throw for ULM in Baton Rouge. Shallowhorn earned third in both the high jump and long jump at LSU. Ramirez is the lone women's performer with two Top-3 performances, claiming second in the long jump at the LSU Invitational and third at the LSU Purple Tiger.
The Warhawks are making the quick turnaround to the track after taking part in the Little Rock Invitational last weekend, earning 34 Top-10 finishes along the way. Following those performances, ULM has now earned 106 Top-10 finishes in 2021 and 35 Top-3 finishes.
Last weekend,
Brandon Lewis finished first in the men's 110-meter hurdles to become the third different Warhawk to claim multiple individual crowns in the outdoor season. Lewis was also first in the men's 400-meter hurdles at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational.
Hawkins has a pair of first-place outings in the 800-meter run at the Louisiana Classics and Baylor Invitational in the spring.
Ronald Henderson leads all ULM competitors in first-place finishes in the spring with three. Two of those were in the high jump competition at both the Louisiana Classics and Baylor Invitational. His other was in the long jump at the Baylor Invitational in early April.
