HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The ULM beach volleyball team concluded the 2021 season with back-to-back 4-1 losses to No. 12 FIU and Southern Miss on Friday, April 23 in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Beach Volleyball Tournament at John Hunt Park.
 
MATCH 1: No. 12 FIU 4, ULM 1
 
ULM's point in the match came from the No. 1 pair of Audrey Brooks and Julia Blazek, who picked up their 21st victory of the season with a 14-21, 21-19, 15-13 victory over FIU's Roberta and Federica Frasca.
 
The Panthers (24-5) grabbed the early lead in the match, assuming a 1-0 lead when Abbie Hughes and Paige Kalkhoff earned a 21-9, 21-11 victory over Abigail Elder and Ina Gosen in a clash of No. 3 seeds. FIU's second-seeded pairing Lina Bernier and Ali Denney moved that lead to 2-0 for the Panthers with a 21-16, 21-8 victory against Katie McKay and Kayla Gallant.
 
FIU, the sixth nationally ranked opponent for ULM this season, clinched the match when fourth-seeded pair of Emma Erteltova and Gina Lipscomb triumphed by a 21-17, 21-13 margin over Anna Demmer and Holland Ponthieux. The Panthers stretched their lead to 4-0 when No. 5 seeds Rachele Mancinelli and Giada Bianchi earned a two-set win over Brooke Hoven and Elizabeth Moreland by scores of 21-15, 21-12.

MATCH 2: SOUTHERN MISS 4, ULM 1
 
ULM was eliminated from the CCSA Beach Volleyball Tournament with a 4-1 loss to Southern Miss in the second match of the day Friday evening.
 
On court one, USM's Kyle Grandy and Abbey Wilson posted a three-set victory over Audrey Brooks and Julia Blazek, 21-16, 17-21 and 15-13.
 
On court two, ULM's tandem of Katie McKay and Kayla Gallant rebounded from an opening-set loss to claim a three-set win over Hallie Phelan and Haley Hop.
 
USM's No. 3 seeds Breleigh Favre and Kellie Garraway downed Abigail Elder and Ina Gosen by scores of 26-24, 21-15. Olivia Hepworth and Madison Lawler also notched a point for the Golden Eagles, thanks to a 21-15, 21-18 victory over Anna Demmer and Holland Ponthieux on court four.
 
The pairing of Valeria Siakidou Papakyriakou and Kai Norman helped Southern Miss earn another point on the fifth court by defeating ULM's tandem of Brooke Hoven and Elizabeth Moreland by scores of 21-19, 21-14.
