Fanonnel Caps Stellar Career at Final Round of NCAA Regional

Men's Golf
STILLWATER, Okla. – ULM senior Guillaume Fanonnel rose 19 spots on the leaderboard in Tuesday's final round of the NCAA Stillwater Regional at Karsten Creek to finish tied for 39th overall at 10-over-par 226 (80-73-73).

In his final round as a Warhawk, Fanonnel shot a 1-over-par 73 to finish fifth among 10 at-large individuals selected to the regional. He had three birdies and 11 pars in the round. He birdied the par-4 second and sixth holes and was even par at the turn. On the back nine, Fanonnel sunk a birdie on the par-5 14th.

"G played very well today," ULM Director of Golf Tim Baldwin said. "He had several opportunities to make birdies today and just missed too many makeable putts."

Colorado State's AJ Ott was the top individual finisher at 5-under-par 211 to tie for third and advance as the top individual to the national championship.

It was Fanonnel's second career appearance in an NCAA Regional after earning a spot as an individual in the 2019 field. He is the first golfer in ULM program history to qualify for multiple NCAA Regionals. ULM's other NCAA individual qualifiers include Doug Farr (1971), Kenny Buchan (1989), Brad Surles (1995) and Gustaf Kocken (2011).

An All-Sun Belt Conference First-Team selection, Fanonnel led the Warhawks in scoring average, birdies (92) and greens in regulation (.683) during the 2020-21 season. He posted 14 rounds of 72 or lower, including six in the 60s.

Fanonnel ranks as ULM's career leader in scoring average (72.5), par or better rounds (64) and eagles (17). His 402 career birdies are second on the school's all-time list.

"Overall, it was a great experience for G as he capped off a stellar career at ULM," Baldwin said.
