CHOUDRANT, La. – ULM junior
Jacob Agerschou is tied for eighth and the Warhawk men's golf team is 13th after the first day of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate at Squire Creek Country Club Sunday.
Agerschou fired a 2-under-par 70 in his first round as a Warhawk. After starting on the 10th hole, the New Mexico Junior College transfer birdied the par-3 12th, par-4 15th and the par-4 fourth while sinking 14 pars. He is three shots behind Lamar's Kevin Lee, who leads the tournament after a first-round 5-under-par 67.
Sophomore
Cody Winkler and junior
Otto Van Buynder each shot a 2-over-par 74 in the first round. Winkler birdied the par-5 11th, 15th and par-4 sixth while picking up 10 pars. Van Buynder closed out his round with back-to-back birdies on the par-4 eighth and par-5 ninth after knocking down a birdie on the par-5 17th. He totaled 10 pars on the round.
Sophomore
Mikkel Schmitt wrapped up ULM's scoring with a 4-over-par 76. He birdied the par-4 10th and had 12 pars.
Junior
Michael Gilbert shot a 6-over-par 78. His lone birdie was on the 15th. He collected 11 pars.
Freshman
Rory Milne had the second-best round of any Warhawk but is competing as an individual in his first collegiate tournament. Milne shot a 1-over-par 73 to tie for 41st. He birdied the 10th, par-4 13th and sixth while adding 11 pars.
The Warhawks tee off at 9:10 a.m. Monday in the second round.
