MONROE, La. – The ULM women's golf team plays in the Hoover Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Heatherwood Golf and Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama. The tournament was relocated from Hoover Country Club due to flooding concerns.

Heatherwood Golf and Country Club features a par-72 course covering 5,873 yards. The course was designed and built in 1969 and has played host to numerous national, local and professional events. The fairways feature premier Bermuda grass while the greens have bent grass. The course presents challenges with narrow fairways and strategically placed bunkers. The course underwent major renovations in 2020.

The Warhawks will play 36 holes on Monday, starting at 9 a.m., before concluding the tournament Tuesday.

Fourdraine opened the tournament with a 2-over-par 74, followed by a 4-over-par 76 and a 1-over-par 73. Walia shot a first-round 2-over-par 74 before a 6-over 78 in the second round. She closed the tournament with her best round, a 1-under-par 71.

Sophomore Maria Garcia is slated to compete in her second tournament as a Warhawk. She shot a 230 in the USA Intercollegiate, including low rounds of 4-over-par 76 in the first and second rounds.

Freshman Sara Haegglund makes her ULM debut to round out the lineup. Haegglund, a native of Alingsaas, Sweden, won Teen Tour Future #4 in August 2021 at even par 216 (76-71-69) and is ranked No. 59 in Sweden. She played for the national high school team championship all three years, improving her scoring average from near 80 to around 74 prior to graduation.
