NATCHITOCHES, La. – Madalina Grigoriu won another fall tournament while the doubles tandem of
Oleksandra Balaba and
Brianna Gomez won a pair of matches Saturday to claim a title at the Lady Demon Collegiate Invitational at the Jack Fisher Lady Demon Complex.
Grigoriu remained unbeaten in the fall with a 6-2, 6-4 win over SFA's Nyah Kauders in the championship of the Purple Singles Draw.
Gomez lost in the Black Singles Draw finals, 6-3, 6-4, to Northwestern State's Tjasa Klevisar, while
Jimena Paula Garbino dropped the championship match in the Orange Singles Draw to Southeastern's Kate Oborina, 3-6, 6-4, 10-6.
Giovanna Pereira took third place in the Grey Singles Draw, besting SLU's Bogi Csordas, 6-2, 6-4.
Daniela Hernandez won a consolation singles match over SLU's Flory Bierma, 6-0, 7-6.
In doubles,
Oleksandra Balaba and Gomez won the White Draw with a 6-4 win over SLU's Sofya Kanarskaya and Oborina before beating SFA's Elena Bleicher and Elise Frigout, 7-5, in the finals.
Pereira and Garbino were second in the Orange Draw, beating a tandem of NSU's Gig Kanaphuet and SLU's Jordan Burdett, 6-0, before falling to SFA's Kauders and Anastassia Kouchnareva, 6-4.
Grigoriu and Hernandez were fourth in the Purple Draw, losing the semifinals to NSU's Mariella Minetti and Klevisar, 7-5, and the third-place match to NSU's Viktorie Wojcikova and Rozi Dohnalova, 6-4.
The Warhawks are off until the ITA Regionals in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Oct. 14-19.
