JONESBORO, Ark. – The ULM women's golf team leads the field by 12 shots entering Tuesday's final round at the Lady Red Wolves Classic at Sage Meadows Golf Club.
The Warhawks sit at 17-under-par 559 (279-280) after two rounds, 11 shots ahead of second-place Central Arkansas at 6-under-par 570 (288-282). ULM shot 9-under-par 279 in the first round and 8-under-par 280 in the second round.
Freshman
Anna Andrysova is aiming for her third consecutive Top-10 placing to open her collegiate career, leading the Warhawks in fourth place at 6-under-par 138 (68-70), two shots behind a three-way tie for first between Arkansas State's Olivia Schmidt and Elise Schultz and Troy's ShaeBug Scarberry at 8-under-par 136.
Andrysova started on the first hole Monday, sinking birdies on the par-5 first, par-4 second, par-4 eighth, par-3 13th and par-5 15th holes to go with 12 pars to shoot 4-under-par 68 in the opening round. She followed in the second round with birdies on the first, par-4 fourth, eighth par-4 12th while sinking 12 more pars for 2-under-par 70.
Chantal Dueringer is tied for fifth at 5-under-par 139 (71-68). She opened play on Monday with an eagle on the first hole before adding birdies on the par-3 seventh and par-4 10th, knocking down 13 pars for a 1-under-par 71 first round. In the second round, she sank seven birdies, coming on the fourth, seventh, par-4 ninth, 12th, 15th, par-4 17th and par-5 18th and made eight pars to fire a round of 4-under-par 68, moving up the leaderboard to fifth place.
Johanna Sjursen led the field after shooting a 6-under-par 66 in the first round but slid back to 21st in the second round with a 7-over-par 79 to shoot 1-over-par 145 on the first day. In the first round, she opened on the second hole, earning birdies on three consecutive holes including the par-5 third, fourth, and par-3 fifth before picking up an eagle on the 10th, and two more birdies on the par-4 16th and first to go with 11 pars. In the second round, she birdied the 12th hole and carded 11 pars.
Alessia Mengoni started slow but finished strong on Monday, moving up the leaderboard to join Sjursen in a tie for 21st at 1-over-par 145 (76-69). In the first round, she birdied the 18th while adding 12 pars. In the second round, she birdied the eighth, 11th, 17th and first holes and added 13 pars.
Line Petersen is tied for 36th at 3-over-par 147 (74-73). Starting on the third hole, she earned birdies on the fourth, 17th and first holes and had 10 pars in the first round. In the second round, she birdied on the 10th, 18th and first holes in the first round and collected 11 pars.
The Lady Red Wolves Classic concludes with an 8:30 a.m. tee time Tuesday for the third round.
