BATON ROUGE, La. – The ULM tennis team competed at the ITA Southern Regional at LSU over the weekend.
The Warhawks dropped all five singles and two doubles first-round qualifying matches on Thursday.
In singles play, MacKenzie King lost to Jacksonville State's Irene Artigas, 6-0, 6-1.
Giovanna Pereira lost to McNeese's Ariane Monlleo-Sanchis, 7-5, 6-2.
Alice Klinteby fell to Samford's Alexis Lopez, 6-3, 6-2.
Mariam Hatem came up short against South Alabama's Otoha Aoki, 7-5, 6-2.
Tamara Bachmann lost to South Alabama's Caraline Scheufler, 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles qualifying action, Hatem and King lost to Jacksonville State's Ella Tuomela and Anna Syrova, 8-2. Klinteby and Bachmann fell to JSU's Zuzana Pavelekova and Dariana Prato, 8-3.
On Friday, the two ULM singles players in the championship bracket and the one doubles pair in the championship bracket lost.
In singles,
Oleksandra Balaba lost to UAB's Annalisa Smith, 6-4, 6-1, and
Alessandra Anghel lost to Mississippi State's Gia Cohen, (8) 6-7, 6-2, 7-5. In doubles, Balaba and Pereira lost to the Ragin' Cajuns' Carla Urchoeguia and Angelique Berrat, 8-2.
On Saturday, ULM lost seven matches in back draw singles play. Pereira lost to Northwestern State's Gig Kanaphuet (3-6, 6-0, 12-10) and Samford's Ally Hayduk (6-2, 7-6 [11]). Klinteby fell to NSU's Renske Ubachs, 6-3, 6-4. Bachmann came up short against McNeese's Luna Jokanovic (6-4, 7-5) and Jacksonville State's Romane Mosse (6-1, 6-1). King dropped matches to McNeese's Natalia Ballo (6-4, 7-3) and North Alabama's Anna Marija Bukina (6-0, 6-0).
The Warhawks conclude the fall season Nov. 12-13 at the Louisiana Tech Invitational.
