Warhawk Women's Golf Fourth After Day 1 at Little Rock Golf Classic

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. – The ULM women's golf team is tied for fourth place following the first day of the Little Rock Golf Classic Monday at Diamante Country Club.
 
The Warhawks shot 13-over-par 589 (301-288) in the first two rounds to sit tied with Belmont and nine shots back of leader Georgia State at 4-over-par 580 (297-283).
 
Sara Hagglund, playing as an individual, had the best day of any ULM golfer. She enters Tuesday's final round tied for ninth at 1-over-par 145 (74-71). Starting on the fifth hole, she had 16 pars in the first round, including a bogey-free run on the 10th through 18th holes. In the second round, she shot 1-under-par 71, sinking birdies on the par-4 10th, par-4 14th, par-5 18th and par-5 third.
 
Alessia Mengoni and Anna Andrysova led the team scoring and are part of a tie for 11th at 2-over-par 146.
 
Mengoni shot 2-over 74 in the first round, collecting birdies on the par-5 11th and par-4 15th to go with 12 pars. She opened the second round on the fourth hole, firing even par with birdies on the par-4 ninth, 15th and third holes and had 12 more pars.
 
Andrysova, who is seeking her fourth Top-10 finish in as many career tournaments, had a pair of 1-over-par rounds of 73. Starting on the third hole, she birdied the par-4 13th and par-3 16th and added 14 pars in the opening round. In the second round, she collected birdies on the par-3 fourth, 13th and 16th holes and had 12 pars.
 
Chantal Dueringer is tied for 17th at 3-over-par 147 (74-73). Starting on the fourth hole Monday, she birdied the par-4 17th and par-5 third and tallied 12 pars in the first round at 2-over-par 74. She earned an eagle on the 11th and added birdies on the par-3 seventh, 13th and 15th holes while sinking 11 pars to shoot 1-over-par 73 in the second round.
 
Johanna Sjursen is tied for 40th at 8-over-par 152 (82-70). In the first round, she birdied the 11th hole and had six pars. She improved by 12 strokes in the second round to shoot 2-under-par 70. Starting on the third hole, she had birdies on the ninth, 10th, 14th and par-4 first holes and added 12 pars.
 
Line Petersen is tied for 59th at 12-over-par 156 (80-76). Starting on the third hole, she birdied the par-4 sixth and 11th holes and eight pars in the first round. She improved by four shots in the second round, draining birdies on the par-3 12th and par-5 18th and had 10 pars.
 
The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
