Warhawk Women's Cross Country Takes 16th, Two Men Compete at NCAA Regional

Cross Country
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The ULM women's cross country team had its highest regional finish since 2005 and two men's runners competed at the NCAA South Central Regional Friday at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course at Texas A&M.

The Warhawk women placed 16th with 468 points, marking the team's highest regional placing since finishing 15th in 2005. All five women's runners set personal bests by at least 50 seconds.

Paula Vaquera Cervantes led the way in the 6K race in 30th in 21:18.9 for one of the highest individual women's finishes at a regional in ULM history. Eliana Battle placed 89th in 22:38.0. Kimone Campbell was 93rd in 22:48.4. Anna Naff took 116th in 23:16.1. Ansley Long concluded ULM's team scoring in 143rd in 23:47.8.

"Today was historic for the women's cross country program," ULM cross country coach David Silversmith said. "To be one of the worst programs in NCAA Division I a few years ago to one of the best regional finishes in program history speaks volumes about the women that are in this program. I'm grateful to be a part of their journey as they continue to bring the program to new heights. This was the best way to cap off our season."

On the men's side Brayden Ortiz placed 126th in the 8K race in 34:30.0. Teddy Gowen was 156th in 36:12.0.
