BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The ULM women's and men's indoor track and field teams combined for 11 Top-3 finishes at the Bulldog Open, hosted by Samford, on Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Brianna Sam set a meet record to win the weight throw and
Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi took her second title in the triple jump.
Jakob Fudge won top honors for the men, taking the weight throw.
Sam set a new school and meet record with a heave of 68-7 1/4 in the weight throw. Sam outdistanced the field by nearly 10 feet, beating out second place by 9-0 3/4. Teammate
Hannah Blood was third in the weight throw with a toss of 54-11 1/2.
Ilunga Mbuyi continued her phenomenal freshman season by claiming the triple jump with a distance of 40-11 3/4. She also won the Ted Nelson Invite. She has finished inside the Top 3 in all four meets this season. She also placed fourth in the long jump at 18-8.
Also for the women,
Rebekka Schubert was second in the long jump at 18-10 1/2 and
Khrystyan Reddic was third in 18-9 3/4.
Brianna Washington was second in the shot put with a throw of 45-1.
Jasmine Williams was second in the 60 meter hurdles in a personal-best time of 8.59 seconds.
Kimone Campbell set a school record in the 800 and finished third in 2:13.94.
Fiebe Tengrootenhuysen improved on her school record in the 400 in 56.11 and placed eighth.
On the men's side, Fudge won the weight throw with a distance of 57-1. He also took fourth in the shot put at 50-10 3/4.
Ali Eren Unlu claimed second place in the high jump, clearing 6-8 3/4.
Keith Robinson placed second in the 60 meters in 6.77 seconds, setting a personal best.
Jhavonte Perry set a new personal best in the 60 in the semifinals in 6.89 before placing fifth in the finals in 6.93.
Devin Bilbo set a personal best in the 60 meter hurdle semifinals in 8.23 and placed fifth in the finals in 8.29.
The Warhawks are now off until the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Feb. 21 and 22 in Birmingham.
