NEW ORLEANS, La. – The ULM tennis team dropped Saturday's match at New Orleans, 4-3.
The Privateers took control early, collecting the doubles point as Lina Hohnhold and Marthe Degeorges defeated
Hala Badwy and
Alessandra Anghel at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, and Ank Vullings and Estelle Vanthier bested
Madalina Grigoriu and
Giovanna Pereira, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 doubles match between ULM's
Jimena Paula Garbino and
Daniela Hernandez and UNO's Mar Gendra and Lea Alguacil was unfinished.
UNO extended the lead to 3-0 with Salma Abdelrahim's 6-1, 6-3, win at No. 6 singles over Pereira and Hohnhold's victory against Anghel at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3.
ULM notched its first point of the day at No. 4 singles as Garbino defeated Vanthier, 6-2, 6-2. Badwy followed with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Vullings at No. 2 singles.
UNO sealed the match with Gendra's win at No. 5 singles over
Daniela Hernandez, 7-5, 7-5. Grigoriu closed the match with ULM's final point, beating Degeorges 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).
The Warhawks entertain Northwestern State at 1 p.m. Friday at Heard Stadium.
