MONROE, La. – The ULM men's and women's indoor track and field teams will compete in Friday's Bayou Bengal at Carl Maddox Field House in Baton Rouge. Field events begin at 9:30 a.m. with track events getting underway at 1 p.m.
The Warhawks were off last week after competing at the Ted Nelson Invite at Texas A&M and the Vanderbilt Invitational.
Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi,
Fiebe Tengrootenhuysen,
Brianna Sam,
Alivia Busch and the 4x400 meter relay have been among the top finishers early in the season for the ULM women.
Mbuyi won the triple jump at the Ted Nelson Invite, and then improved her mark by two inches to 41-2 1/4 to place third at the Vanderbilt Invitational.
Tengrootenhuysen broke her own school record in the 400 meters at 56.13 seconds to place fourth at Vanderbilt. She was part of the 4x400 relay team with
Brittney Roberson,
Jasmine Williams and
Amanda Radava that set a school record in 3:49.82 at Vanderbilt. Sam won the weight throw at the Ted Nelson Invite with a throw of 64-11 1/2 while Busch was second at 54-4 1/2.
Keith Robinson and
Darshon Turk have had strong starts on the track for the men, while
Jakob Fudge and
Chapman Bazer started strong in the field.
Robinson was third in the 60 meters in 6.86 seconds at Vanderbilt, which matched his time and placing from the Ted Nelson Invite. Turk was fifth in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.13 at Vanderbilt after finishing fifth at the Ted Nelson Invite in 8.07. Fudge was second in the weight throw at the Ted Nelson Invite with a throw of 54-2 while Bazer was third at 53-5.
